happy to be able to reach 540 fsb with that mobo on air

    4.6 ghz ( 8.5 x 540 / PC 6400@1080 4-4-4-4) 1.56v real bios ( set at 1.68v )

    something strange I couldn't raise VMCH more than 1.4v ( 1.5 and 1.7 available bios 903 asus P5K-C )

    Whats the verdict?

Anything over 4.0 needs the big volts?

I got the E3110 and it requires less voltage than the two E8400 I had, which were stable at 445 MHz x 9 @ 1.365v in bios. The E3110 is stable at 460 MHz with the exact same settings, although with the higher FSB I backed off the Performance Level to 8, from Level 6

Not sure about maximums, but I o/c my E8400 to 4630 MHz @ 1.60v and this E3110 should do 4.6 with under 1.50v

Great, 1.36 in bios, what would that be in real terms on the P5k?

    On my P5B 1.36 bios = 1.296 real

The P5K has Load Line Calibration, which reduces the vdrop and locks in the voltage closer to bios settings. So 1.365v in bios drops to 1.344v at idle and about 1.337v under load. If the load line is disabled, then more voltage is required for stability...such is the case with the P5B.

I had the P5B vanilla with a E6300 and it ran 24/7 at 490 MHz X 7 with 1.375v in bios. After vdrop the voltage would show 1.32v at idle. With that setup it o/c to 533FSB x 7 = 3730 MHz. With my P5K Deluxe I could only match the 3730 MHz with the E6300, but no better, despite all the voltage and bios adjustments with the P5K-D.

Tonight, I ran some basic tests at 4600 MHz, not bad for air cooling, at a little lower voltage than my E8400.

This E3110 runs way hotter than my E8400. Not sure this is due to the thermal diodes actually working, and not being stuck like on both of my E8400's? But it shows about 20C higher under load.

it seems that xeon's run hotter than 8400 and requires less vcore to reach same frequencies .

You should mention too taht " load calibration line " seems only efficient with deluxe P5K and not working on others .

I still have lot of vdroop on P5K-C with voltage damper enabled and this issue was already described on another topic .

I should be getting my E3110 today.

I'll do some quick testing on the P5B Vanilla and if it doesnt like it Ill run out to get the P5K- Premium.

My real concern is the fact that any bios I tried on my P5B after the 0701 just wont overlock at all. ANd I need a new bios for the Xeon...So I dont know if its just the combo of the E6300 and the new BIOS that is bad, or its just new bios plus my P5B = not going anywere. I know its not ram cause its doing the same thing with different sticks.

i wonder if one gets the dfi dk p35 right now together with an e3110 , how one will manage it to work? don't it need a bios update? or do they work right away and recognize it (same goes for other 45nm like e8500 or q9450 etc.)

If your picking one up at a store then look for the 45nm sticker....All boards Ive come across that are retail and do support it have a sticker on them "45NM supported"

If your getting it online them maybe email em first.

P.S No E3110 today, picking it up at the post office tomorrow. Ill come back with a report.

Here is my best 1M SPi time so far with the P5K-Premium. Gotta little more tweaking to do.

    Some quick results

    http://www.is-mad.com/upload/userfil...110_TEST_1.jpg

    Myn is batch Q745A784

    Pack Date 02/06/08

450fsb @ 1.352 but drops to 1.312 under load...seems that Vdroop is way higher on with this chip then with the E6300....where underload my voltage would only drop 0.016

At first I was paranoid cause it just wouldnt boot at anything between 390-410FSB....regarldes of voltage. So I just said "f*c* it" and gave it 450 and it worked fine

THe above is stable in the 8mb two core Pi and 3dmark06...

    More will follow.

Wasnt that stable at 1.352...Had to bump up to 1.392, 1.33* under load to pass OCCT.

Before it would pass superPi 32 but not OCCT...

It really likes the volts. I'll wait for my 120Ultra before I go higher.

Yeah, I tested stability before FSB and got new cpuz in between. Good attention to detail tho.

    Xeon 3110

Got a Xeon 3110 today, but the temps reported under everest and coretemp are just out of this world. With 4.5Ghz@1.45volt the temps are around 80c, Idle around 49C. Is this normal or the diodes of this CPU are broken?
