I guarantee you cannot complete 32M calculations of super Pi at that low of a voltage. My Q6600 has a VID of 1.225. I could boot and run at the same voltage but it wouldn't pass any real benchmarks.

Mine 1.225VID runs 1.32V at 3.6G but shows 1.28 in cpuz so he could be running that with 1.215VID.

An Antec Neo Power 550W is powering the Abit IP35 Pro v1.1. I believe the Vcore droop is a motherboard design issue. Might be discussed in motherboard threads like http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=147163
. I do not see any of the power supply voltages (+12v, etc) reported by software drop while under load so I don't think I have a power supply issue.

Could you let me know what PSU you're using and whether you think this may also be contributing to your problems.

    Lightbulb q6600 1.28v = 3600Mhz

I don't believe in statements without showing some actual results with them (over 4 hours of Prime95) anyone can SuperPi, wPrime or Small FFT's.

But you should re-think what you said; My Q6600 1.2125vid is rock solid @3600 with real 1.28v (1.27250v on Bios) and DDR2 @ 1200Mhz 2.14v now. Over 10 hours Prime95 blend test (second picture):

    *****Q6600 1.28vcore 400*9 3600Mhz and DDR2@1201 (Performance Level 5-6): new config

    *****Q6600 1.28vcore 400*9 3600Mhz and DDR2@1066 (Performance Level 6-7):

Well being rock stable on 3.6GHz and 1.28v isn't really impossible and I'm sure he can do it, considering the fact that he has a VERY rare chip with a VID of 1.200v. Actually, never seen a second one with that kind of VID.
I'm sure he can post some nice screenshots of not only 32M SuperPi but 8H+ Prime95 Small FTT's since I know he has them.

I'm personally less lucky, but still my chip can do 3.6GHz rock stable on 1.32v, but my board is limiting me a little so I'm keeping it as in my sign below

And tbh, considering 32M SuperPi stable is a little too soon. Errors can pop out even after 3H of Small FTT's on Prime95. In my opinion, 8H+ and more can be considered stable.

What's your FSB voltage set to and your Northbridge Voltage set to? I can run my computer in low 1.3v's but it won't pass Super PI above 4M. If it works for you, great.

    I've got a small problem with my Q6600 G0.

It can do 333x9=3000mzh, stock voltage.
It can also do 350x9=3195mhz, 1.2v stable. under load after vdroop
But when i crank it to 355x9 no matter the voltage it just wont be stable no matter what.

    Bad batch?

Try loosening up the RAM timings for now so that you know it's not that cheap ram holding you back whilst you up the FSB. Also, try running a 1:1 divider as well.

Nice. Did tou run that cpu in any other mb's ? If you did, did it clock as well?

I started with a max formula and 440fsbx9 max and now run 450fsbx9 easy with a striker, can almost get 456x9 stable and was thinking it might do it with an x48 or 790i.

Edit. I can get about 6min at the same settings then bsod.

I'm gonna OC my q6600 G0 in about some weeks. First I need to read alot about OC'ing since I've never done it before.

But I've read that if you want to clock your Q6600 to 3,0Ghz just change the FBS to 333, you dont need to change the volt. Is that really true?

Chances are, the Maximus will overvolt the CPU @ 3000. You may want to lower voltage manually in bios. My board went to 1.3v on auto but was prime stable with 1.17v (1.16 load) @ 3000.

alright! finally put my rig together and my VID according to Core Temp is 1.275v and my idle temps are 33/33/24/31 with fresh AS5 and BT Typhoon install. unfortunately, i only had 2 of the screws for the BT so i put them in alternating corners and screwed them tight. i hope it stays.

i hope its a good chip

i will post more results later because i have to go to work now

what OS do xtreme users prefer? XP64 or Vista64?

also, im using 4 instances of SP2004 with Large FFT and priority of 8 for stress testing. is that good enough? i tried to run 4 instances of Prime95 and it gave me a virtual memory error. im sure im missing something.

I don't know much about overclocking either, but I've been trying these days.

What you say about getting the CPU to 3.0 GHz with stock voltage seems valid for me. Some days ago I was trying to get it to 3.2 GHz (I don't have time to test it these days), and I couldn't do it. It happens that I was perhaps overvolting my CPU unnecessarily. I was setting it to 1.4200v on my BIOS. As for today, I'm running my Q6600 G0 VID 1.2375v at 3000 MHz with stock voltage. So, that statement seems to be true for me, but I guess it also depends on your motherboard and CPU batch.

Oh, by the way, it seems the stock voltage on my board if I set it to "Normal" it's the same as the VID. My board's got a horrible vDroop, so voltages are 1.184v at idle, and 1.152v at full load after eight hours of Prime95, according to CPU-Z. My temperatures are 32 ºC (average for all cores) at idle, and 48 ºC at full load. There is a picture of my setup on my signature.

I'll be testing more MHz in some days, maybe perhaps this weekend.

    Have fun, and good luck!

I can barely make mine boot into Windows at 9x333 stable (1.450V vcore) on my previous P5K Deluxe rev. 1.00G (went defected). Now, my RMA from Asus got here, which is rev. 1.01G and I can reach 9x333 easily with stock vcore and stable, too. I can honestly say the new revision makes a big difference on OCing my Q6600 (at least in my case here). I'm very happy...

Did you mount your TRUE properly? Maybe try lapping it? From the difference of temps on cores I think it has a VERY concave surface... Around 60C is fairly normal on the settings you're using, but 77C is wicked, you definitely need to fix this.
