in regards to the backplate for the Red Scorpion S1283 (came with push-pins), Xigmatek ran (past tense) a promotion in February, to replace those push-pins.
But after talking to a very nice gentleman from Xigmatek, he said he will honor my request, providing I have proof of purchase on Feb (sorry forgot the exact window dates) and the UPC, Xigmatek will send me the support brackets.
Thanks to Newegg for saving all my receipts![]()

Makes me wonder how much of a performance boost will the TRUE get if they made a HDT version for it.
Seems we made our greatest error when we named it at the start
for though we called it "Human Nature" - it was cancer of the heart

If you would read the whole article, you would see that they used a different fan than they used on the Ultra 120. They don't know the specs on the fan they used on the TRUE.
Great work everyone, good information
One thing I'm still dabbling in is how to work out its theoretical performance with a given fan setup and how much efficiency they lose past the power spec., when they're only rated for 130W TDP. S1284 is very likely to be better than the S1283 just due to the TM and fan though, as long as you have good base contact.
Off the top of my head, thats only the second accurately working E8400 DTS I've seen here, exactly as the working ES samples at load with a TT120.
You can order Xigmatek S1283 and S1284 from many online places, but make note the S1284 they list and don't describe or picture is the HDT-D1284 (around 39 EUR mark), not the S1284 replacing S1283.
for the price you pay it's a kickass product![]()

E8400s' thermal sensors have a big, super-widespread problem of not functioning. Yours appears to be working and that's a good thing![]()
actually the fan came with RS1283 has higher pressure....thats what I was told.
I am waiting on the S1284 too might replace one of my RS1283 and see how it performs.

I'm after some info which is v.hard to grab, are you willing to do some testing for us please?
The Xig-S1283 is a pretty good air cooler, from the top bunch, so I'd like to see your full load temps with Prime95 Small FFTs for say, 30 minutes, on the Xig you have at these settings, each time:
E8400: 333x9 3000MHz @ 1.200V
E8400: 333x9 3000MHz @ 1.250V
E8400: 333x9 3000MHz @ 1.300V
Nothing else changed from stock.
If you're willing to do it, try to list the ambient case temperature and ambient room temperature please, it helps greatly.
I haven't listed higher voltage because it's 45nm.. but if you don't mind for 30 minutes, then 1.350V and 1.4000V again at stock speed, full load comparison, will also help greatly in judging temps and what to expect with an E8400, with some good air cooling.
It doesn't have to be 1.3/1.35 etc exact, just near those values.
Here is during my prime95 small ft's run @8x475,59c entire run @ ambiant 64F. with TT smart fan turned up. This screen shot is at 6 hours.![]()
With these temps I don't need a better HS and for 26 bucks plus a TT smart fan this solution is all you need.
And with due respect, the reviews done at frosty tech are done in an enviromentally controlled room, the testing done "here" is not on the same level and would only be good for compairing one HS to the other, this also assumes similar ambiant temps when the testing was done.![]()

I needed 1.4v (CPUZ under load) to go 3800, but my load temps never went over 58c with stock Xigmatek fan and 23c ambient. Oh, and the fan is spinning at 1350rpm, not the advertised 1500 @ 100%. My PC is now very quite compared to the Freezer 7 PRO that was in there before.
