Yes. Once i touched stock hs on nb while at full speed - it was pretty hot!
So i replaced whole stock cooling with Thermalright's products (dets in my sig). It's much better now!
BTW i didn't experience any problem while replacing pwm hs as Praz and someone reported - proper position, good contact, no need to modify anything.
    Cheers.

You just got lucky. The two rows of caps are slightly taller then the slave chips. With the heatsink sitting on both sets of components it is a physical impossibility that the HR-09 will sit completely flat on the slave chips. The HR-09, used as shipped, is a poor cooling solution for this board.

I don't know about the UT (I'm still using the stock heatpipe construction), but on the DK, the HR-09 Type3 work very well and give me good temps, compared to the stock mosfet coolers.
Temps under load are now in the low 40's. With the stock coolers, temps got up to 70°. The coolers feel pretty cool to.

The DK component layout is different. For the LT/UT the base needs a relief milled into it like the original heatsink. Then it would be an excellent replacement.

    I don't see a problem with HR-09 (Type 2) in that area.
Thermal pad compensates height difference between chips and caps (and cools them too). With such thick thermal pad imo it doesn't make big differece if hs sits perfectly straight (though mine sits so - I'm lucky!)

Thanks for the confirmation on the 9800GX2 working great on this board. As soon as dual display becomes an option while running SLI I will surely be picking up one of these cards for this board.

All I did was put in a request. Didn't think it would be changed that quick, if at all. A special thanks to Oskar and DFI. I can't think of another board manufacturer that would have done this for the users. After all, in the grand scheme of things this was a pretty trivial matter. Now if I can get one more change made in my mind this BIOS would be about as perfect as one could be.

No. A much bigger impact on stability then that. But I think a good portion of the code would have to be reworked to implement the change.

Not really sure it makes a difference if I use it any way. 12/24 seems to work well with my Q6600.
They are the same board. I don't even look at LT's page anymore as DFI doesn't seem to keep it up to date. I am using 3/17 bios right now on my LT with no problems.

edit: Looks like the beta site for the LT is up to date. I see the 3/17 bios available there now. However the official site still only shows 12/24 as the latest. The latest official for the UT(2/14) also works for the LT.

I'm really curious now! Think you can share your thoughts on what changes you would like seen in a future update?

I know you have seen me bring this up many times before. I am sorry for it, but do you think you can request the RAID ROM bios to be updated from 7.5.0.1017 to the latest 7.6.0.1011?

Best thing you can do is to measure the distance between the holes where the pushpins go through and then check the drawings from TR site here :

    http://www.thermalright.com/new_a_pa...50aHVzaWFzdA==

    I think it's Type 2 you'll need.

Might want to ask them. Below is one of the emails I received from Chris when we were discussing samples to be reviewed.

    John,

According to our product manager, you need a HR-09 Type 2 (short side) to fit onto your DFI P35 or X38 boards.

The new HR-09 Type 3 will fit the new DFI RD600 and the 680i boards.

    Thermalright,

    Chris Lee

Because once again, they made a mistake.

After I got my DK, I checked TR site to see which mosfet coolers would fit.
It stated I needed the Type 2 U/S, so I ordered them.
You can imagine my surprise that they didn't fit and that I needed the Type 3 instead (after measuring the distance between the holes and checking the correct type afterwards).

I have a screenshot from last month, where you can see that they recommend the Type2 U/S coolers for the DK.
Now check which type they recommended for the P35 T2R?
