vcore should be talked about in actual terms since the bios setting has to much built in error between set and actual....uguru, with the latest beta bios, has about a plus 0.07v difference between actual and indicated in "Uguru OC."
personally, i would not go above 1.50v actual vcore for anything close to 24/7...for less than 12 hours of operational time, i would use up to 1.54-1.55v actual vcore.
i see that you are using water system so that is slightly better than a TRUE heatsink...just don't cheat on the cooling process...keep your PWM cooled with an additional 40mm fan to keep the mosfets cooled...are you water cooling the PWM area?

Ace do you think running 1.34 volts in the bios to an E8400 24/7 is too much?
I have recently achieved the 500x8 configuration on my setup and I am still tweaking out the ram settings.
I have the CPU at 1.34 in bios and the rest of the voltages I can post later.

My PWM temps are like 35-38 idle, 53-55 under load in Guru. Should I bother doing the heatpipe mod? Planning on installing a new HSF with a bolt-thru kit so I have to take the motherboard out anyways.. just afraid I'll over tighten it or screw it up I guess.

If your temps are staying that low, I wouldn't bother. Mine would get up over 80C under load, but now stay in the low 70's with the heatpipe mod. I wouldn't have done it if I was getting your temps.

so, your actual would be lower and i think that would be ok for you....i saw a post by someone who seemed to be in the know and he said 1.35 vcore should be the max for 45nm processors....i personally would use 1.40v actual vcore as the max but i don't stay with a processor for very long, maybe a year!

Here is a shot of my final OC. Im at 500x8 @ 1.34 vcore in bios. Memory is running at 500mhz 5-5-3-15-48 @ 2.05 volts.
Temps look good and im gonna leave it alone from here. Thanks for all the good tips in this thread!

water cooling the PWM? where can i get a block for that? who makes them?
I'm air cooling right now, but it's not a permanent solution yet. I've got a 12" floor fan blowing into my case. That airflow is the difference between stable and not stable too.
Since the floor fan was working, I was thinking I might try suspending a 120mm fan above both the PWN and MCH. 40mm fans are too noisy for me.
what's 'too hot' for the PWM? I'm using cpuid's hardware monitor to get my readings and my PWM is hitting 80C under load. of course, hwmonitor is also showing cpu hits 210C (not the cores, the cpu... whatever that means)... so I don't actually know if this is a good tool to get the PWM temps

lefy, try u guru and see what it gives you for pwm temps. 80c is a bit high. mine idles around 39c and full load no more than 48c

i would say 80C is on the upper fringe for a load.

my PWM temps with my Q6600 used to hit 80+ but after i undid my bolt mod, removed the stock TIM pad and replaced with ceramique, my PWN temps never break 65c.

have some problems with vdrop and wrong vcore is this normal for this board ?

this has been a problem for a while with abit's bioses...ignore the problem...use Uguru to set vcore...i have about a plus 0.07v vcore difference between what is set in Uguru OC and what is actual for an idle load.
under load the vcore will droop (part of intel's spec design)...i get about 0.035 droop under load....each board and cpu is going to be different.
does Cpuz vcore voltage readout fluctuate any?

Hello everybody, i have build a new system similar to the one i have in my sig except the PSU, i was wandering if the Enermax Liberty 500w will be enough. I am planing a moderate oc (e8400 @ 3600) for daily use. Or should i go for 620W version?
