They need to release some 1GB cards for TriSLI/QuadSLI and CFX action at 2560x1600. Memory may kill performance as someone said earlier.

*just read anandtech's 9800GX2 review - maybe we don't need 1GB framebuffers, but would like to see a comparison*

    For a single card?

Hardly. It a BIG leap in gaming performance for those of us running Intel Motherboards.

That means this one single card just pimp handed my SLI'd GTX's. I was amazed. If and when they get the quad SLI hooked up, we'll really have something. And from what I'm reading they OC very well, over 700 on the GPU clocks.

One thing for sure though, they run hotter than Georgia asphalt. Peaked around around 85c with the 2560x1600 score, and I could hear the fans spin up pretty well.

Can't wait to get the other one on

    nice,

I am glad you are excited about your new finding, however, I can't find myself ever getting excited over 3DMark scores anymore. It's real life game play where it counts.

Very good review! GX2 vs 3870x2 vs 3870x2 CF!

I would like to see an update to this with 8800 GTS 512 SLI, 9800 GTX SLI, 9600 GT SLI and 9800 GTX TriSLI, when the 9800 GTX comes out.

Zzzz. That's just the point where it ran out of memory. From the same review.

The GX2's performance at 1920x1200 is matched only by two or three GeForce 8800 Ultras. That is, in technical terms, totally sweet. Personally, despite the seemingly low numbers, I'd consider Crysis playable at 1920x1200 and high quality on the GX2. The card is producing a 35 FPS average, but it rarely dips below that average, so it feels smooth enough. And I'm testing in a very intensive section of the game with lots of dense jungle. When you move elsewhere on the same map, frame rates can climb into the mid 40s or better.
It falls apart on very high + 4aa simply because of the 528mb of memory vs. 768.

This has been my complaint as soon as I found out the 9800GX2 and GTX were only 512MB instead of 768MB.
Running Crysis at high settings, with no AA, 1920x1200, in XP uses about 450MB of RAM.
However, when you use the same settings but use 4x AA, Crysis gobbles up 751MB in no time (see below).
In other words leave AA OFF on a 512MB card when running Crysis at 1920x1200 or your FPS will tank!

So for Crysis better to have more ram then... this game gives me the creeps as I assemble gaming rigs but for thsi game to run with medium to high detail you will need to pump in a beefy card... anyone have a link to a Crysis GPU review ?
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Newegg has some nice $30-50 price drops on the 9800GX2 cards.
