I have the G.Skill DDR2 1000 4GB kit and have the exact same issue - can't run 1:1 with my Q6600 with anything other than the original F3 BIOS. I posted about it probably 20 or 30 pages back.
Were you able to figure this out at all? I'd love to be able to use the newer BIOSes, but if I do I get instant instability, memtest errors etc at 1:1. This is at stock CPU speed and what should be a very large underclock for the memory since it only has to run at 266 to be 1:1.
With the later BIOSes it'll actually run stable at higher than 1:1 though, which just doesn't make any sense at all to me.
