    i`m working 2:3 with booster - 400fsb and its the fastest combination i`ve tried so far..

    3BABY both of the QXs i`m testing (L739-L740) went ~445fsb on air.

    DRAM Static Read Control: Disabled
    Ai Clock Twister : Auto
    Transaction Booster : Disabled

    heres the rest

    what is your ram rated at voltage wise? those volts are nuts! the maximus over-volts the dram alot. you are probably running 2.55-56 volts right there. TURN THAT DOWN RIGHT NOW! the ram i use is rated 2.35 and i set it at 2.26 in bios which gives me 2.35 exactly *real volts*

    is there a freeware program that shows all or most of your memory timings...CPU-Z shows some of them but I want a listing of more...settings in my BIOS are at 'Auto' so I want to see what values 'Auto' assigns

    lol yea, as i said before voltages arent the issue and killing the hardware well..uno.. overvoltage in mind even, running kingston HyperX KHX9600D2K2 2.3-2.35V ranning at 1320+ what ram ddr2 dusnt like a few more volts. have some Ballistx 8500 and some other bits and pieces to play with..

    you should start your testing then by swapping out your ram to the ballistix and see if that is what is causing the problems. also what bios are you on and which have you tried?

    yea have tryed the Ballistix but not much luck either, also the ballistix wont reach 1300, and for some reason if the ram cant get to 1300 the bios wont try anything lower (even with Auto) and it will just DETRAM hang, have run MF0907 & 1004, and RF0219, understandabily with the RF bios it gives better ram dividers that lower the ddr speed a lil, but still cant get the high fsb's. really got me stuck this one huh

    I just updated to the 0907 bios on asus's page, and now my CPU temp in everest dropped from around 40 degrees to around 20 :o Anyone got any idea why, or is it just the 0907 bios thats flawed?
    And, the 1003 bios in this thread is a beta version I guess?

    Yes 907 temps are way off, 1003 is acurate but I would recommend 1004, much bette bios imo.
    Kup however recommends 505 for quad core, better clocks, improved stability.

    Do you have to reinstall Vista when going from MF0907 to RF0219 ?

    Oh, and another thing. If I keep my OC Profile 1, I can use that if I wanna go back to MF0907 right?

    The Rampage Formula with its adv ram tweaking under the transaction booster does not like 266 divider, use 333/400 and go from there. No matter how much voltage you give it, it will not use 266 from my testing.

    so im testing some crucial ballistix pc-8500 right now and im quite disappointed
    ill give it a bit more testing but things are not looking up

    *edit*

    im back to the mushkin memory. these crucial modules are junk, the mushkin hp-2 pc8500 are way better *tighter sub timings too*

    i will be returning them tomorrow, as for now...
    MORE OVERCLOCKS!!!!

    Vista didn't need a reinstall, but my OC Profiles was erased when flashing RF0219.

    also another thing ive noticed running between straps and playing while playing with new memory is when i set the fsb strap to 400, the l2 cache improved latency by .2ns, i dont know if bandwidth increased because i forgot to note that, but im pretty sure it did as well.

    just my 2 cents

    *edit*
    durkadurka, what timings and volts would you recommend for the ballistix pc-8500 in a 2 1gb module configuration? ive got 2 gigs right in front of me now

    zen,

    so you dont like the crucial 8500's ?
    damn too bad i was planning on grabbing a set of them for my upgrade. oh well..
    i may go for those mushkins you got there, seeing as ive used mushkin many times before, and i never had a problem.

    can you hook me up with a link to where you bought them ?

    you should really set it to about 1.9 and re-check your volts again to see exactly how much it over volts. not only is this information good to know, but the word "AUTO" scares the shistuffingst out of me when it comes to asus + voltage. once you know how much it over volts, correct your voltage once again in bios with the adjusted value you just figured out to the factory spec. you could probably squeeze more mhz out of your ram by relaxing your timings on ram, going beyond factory spec on voltage to the ram modules, or a combination of both... in my experience i cant do this by having the voltage on auto.

    @Sources:

    damn that sucks! i cant believe your stick died seeing that your only pulling 912mhz and pushing 2.12 volts! i have the balistix and im pushing 2.26 volts @ 560MHz, mabye i should take a lesson from you ? :/

    @Teko:

    i had some nb/sb reading problems when i updated to the maximus rampage bios. a simple FULL uninstall and reinstall of everest fixed the problem. (make sure you backup your "Everest.ini" file before you do it if you have any custom settings...)
    also, why not try the rampage bios ? everyone's been having amazing results...
