Pleasure. I haven't eventually bought one from them as after reading a few threads and reviews I am leaning towards new Samsung F1 320GB one platter or WD 640GB (this one is not available in UK yet I am afraid). The prices are comparable (for 320 drives) and it seems like Samsung offers slightly better performance. I think. Probably nothing you can notice running real life applications but still...

The Samsung F1 320GBs aren't due in the U.s. until late mid-late April
(but don't hold me to that... Samsung has been notorious for being late)

Anyone know if Seagate has plans to follow suit of WD and Samsung and release a ~300GB single platter drive?
    Less is more.

TEDY, where did you see samsung saying something about platters? Max formatted capacity doesn't mean that

I've noticed my mouse cursor has been hovering on the "kaufen" -button since yesterday when I noticed the drives had appeared on Mindfactory and Geizhals.at.

to me it has been clear for a good while now the the 1TB uses 334GB platters and the 750GB uses the old 250GB platters.

What i find wierd tho is that i cant find a single review site that puts the F1 1TB and F1 750GB head to head or a site that has a review on both.

Could it be that Samsung doesnt want review sites to compaire the 2 drives?

but anyway putting all this aside the 750GB stil is a grt HD.
On geizhals.at it dropped below 100 euro wich makes it a grt drive for the price and performence it delivers. the 1TB performs better and has a lil more space but in return costs twice as much.

In 3 months it will pass 1 year from the press release of Samsung F1 series and I still can't buy the 320 GB version. This is ridiculous

ya but thats cause Samsungs T166 is stil selling to good. they be competiting with one of their own products.

I guess once Samsung launches the F2 wel will see the smaller F1s apear lol.

    Just ordered 2× HD642JJ's.
ETA is pretty much unknown as the retailer doesn't have stock atm but estimates availability within 48hours.

    edit:
The drives are on their way, expecting arrival early next week.
