So more than one person is experiencing lower required voltage for the CPU clocks?
I did it !!!!!
Wouldn't reboot at first and i thought id killed it so i pulled out a stick of ram and up it came, yippee
I wish Asus would get a move on with this rampage bios![]()

Didnt need more NB volts.
CPUPLL on AUTO gives rounding errors, set to 1.50 rounding errors are gone.
Priming my 24/7 settings now, will shoot for a +500 stable(ish) Vista boot shortly.
Interesting. I'm so so so so tempted to do it. I'll give it until tomorrow evening and if there are no discouraging experiences I'm going to take the jump.
JUMP JUMP JUMP JUMP!
Seriously tho, I was really bumbed last night with my few glitches, I thought OMG wtf did I do.
After today I am very pleased, no complaints, no regrets
It would be nice if ASUS would just make there next MF BIOS like the RF BIOS. Maybe if everyone ask then nicely???

This isn't good. I can't return it now either. Do you know of which ram does work fine with this board?
I kinda figured an expensive board like this would be less likely to have problems. I did try the 1004 bios and the 907 bios. Although I haven't had problems booting into the bios or anything, just the memtest errors on 2 of 4 sticks.
Anyone still run the 505 bios? Im tempted to update mine to the newest one out if its safe to do so.

this reminds me of p4p800d to p4p800e flashing, flash the bootblock then flash the new bios to add extra features.
really though changing the rom ID in bios with amibcp should be enough IMO, my versions here won't open the rampage bios though.

I guess it's still too early to say there's a decided advantage or difference in performance by doing this?

well I see it this way, if the added timings in the rampage bios help then its worth it...tRD is better on the X48 board so this would be worth having although its just how the strings are labeled thats different so they are easier to understand.
What we do need is tRC and tRFC opening up and this build of the bios is quite old...so we have to hope the release build has the new options and is coded right unlike the x38 bios version which seems to have issues.

I am currently using BIOS 505 with 8 gb ram (at ddr2-667, and 1.8v). Everything is stock execept for the processor which is running 333 x 10 = 3.3Ghz (on a Q6700). The Vcore is set to 1.264Vand the northbridge and southbridge is set to the lowest setting. The system is rock stable. It idles at 33 and gets to 45 under load (with a thermalright ultra 120 extreme)
Anyway, the question is this
After the bios splash screen disappears, the cursor flashes for 5-6 sec in the upper left hand corner, and then i get the windows vista start up bars. It appears that the bios is waiting for something.
The boot order i have is the harddrive first and i have disabled the second boot device. The floppy dirve is disabled.
Is there any setting in the bios that allows me to go from the splash screen directly into loading windows?
The video card is the 8800GT. It also does this with my other card the 8800 GTS 512
I have seen some brand name computers (HP, Acer, Gateway) boot quickly into windows after the splash screen
I went from 0505 all the way through to 0907. I went back to 0505 because it performed the best for me, had no stability problems and was much better. I then tested 1004 and it caused nothing but chaos, all the usual random crashing and locking up. Flashed back to 0505 and all is fine again.
I upgraded 1003 to 1004 and now it won't hold a custom FSB. I enter 400x9 but once I save it just reverts the processor back to stock at 266x9 (q6600 g0). Anyone else have this issue/know how to fix it?
Also, are there any conclusive results yet as to the rampage mod making for easier overclocking or not?
-Q6600 G0 @3.6GHZ
-Apogee GT Block, Onboard Maximus SE NB Cooler
-X38 Asus Maximus Formula - RaMpAgEd
-4GB G-SKILL 800Mhz
-EVGA 280 GTX and EVGA 8800 GTS
-3TB RAID-0
-750 Watt Silverstone Zeus
From what I was told today when I checked up on my RMA, the Maximus Formula has been discontinued (but they say they have no stock, and they are asus) and from what i guess, the only stock people have is outlets. like newegg, tiger or others.
So they say if they was out of stock, i would get a upgrade to a Maximus Extreme, which i basically said "WTF, I don't have DDR3" and said to the guy "Well Wouldn't the Rampage Formula or the ASUS 780i board be more acceptable because I do not have DDR3?" and he said "I don't know sir, We will email you by tomorrow with either the Tracking Number or a List of Upgrades we can offer you"

My Rig can do EpicFLOPs, Can yours?
Once this baby hits 88 TeraFLOPs, You're going to see some serious $@#%....
Build XT7 is currently active.
Current OS Systems: Windows 10 64bit
Several people have had similar problems. I'm not sure of the fix yet? Are you loading the overclock profiles cos that won't work, you'll need to set them all manually again.
Btw, I've ripped the logo off the South Bridge and attached a 40mm fan, it dropped my South Bridge temps from 40c down to 29c and my North Bridge down from 47c to 40c 100% Loaded!
MUCH nicer! I actually think the fan is the one from my ancient KR7A...![]()

Yeah. If this sorts the memory timings then definitely it will be worth doing. I am teetering on the brink here, but I figure I'll at least wait until I get my QX9650 before deciding.
It seems more and more like Asus are going to abandon the Maximus Formula bios... still no new "official" release since 0907.
