Just got my new G0 Q6600 Batch# L750A892 with VID of 1.2625V and currently testing on my IP35pro and voltage in bios is set to 1.5225V and on prime95 load,it drops down to 1.400V.Is this ok?Seems like mine needs a lot of voltage to run at this speed.Anyway here's a screenie and i know 2 of my cores really hot(70+C )but it's because i got me a crappy Cooler Master GeminiII.Only been running 15mins but so far so good.Hopefully stable.

Are there two versions of P5K Premium? One is the Pearl (or is it black) edition and one is the normal color one? Am I missing something? I RMAed my P5K Deluxe. Hope I will get a Premium in return (which is what everyone is saying anyway).
PCB revision is 2.00G if I remember, CPU-z shows that. I never saw a P5K Premium with different versions. But, there's different caps/box/boo color versions. Also, there's 2 PCBs: made in taiwan and made in China
I don't know of any other differences. But, often, ASUS makes small PCB revisions that are not announced. Also, often, last chipset generations are better despite no revision is present (like the G0 batches, some are better than others). So, MB performance could be better on newer stocks, and if you're lucky

Tsuchiro, what are your other settings in the bios?I would like to test what you have to see if it is stable also.I'm at work but as of right now,prime95 should be in it's 10th hour of testing.Seems pretty stable though.Last time i checked before i left it was on the 7th hour and no errors.

    VID: 1.2250v

I'll post some screenshots here once I start overclocking it, I just got my system setup tonight. Mine has very good contact with my Apogee GT block, all cores reading the same Temp except core2 which reads 3C lower.

Only thing I could find, was a foreign site. The guy had an L744 stepping, that was the most info he provided on the stepping. Looked to be a good chip.

That's terrible. You should not have to deal with such a bad clocker. I am happy to buy it from you.

My Q6600 @ 3600 w/ 1.328v load after about 4:30 hours. Temps are a little high because I'm only using a single chevette heater core hooked up to the CPU, NB, and GPU for testing purposes.

Low VID is the way to go!

I sold my old Q6600 VID 1.2850v to buy the new Q9450 but gave up due to no substancial add in performance from what I was running the Q6600(@4050Mhz with 1.5v).

So I decided to buy a new Q6600 with low VID and I got this batch: L745A793! The VID on this batch is 1.2125v.

It's amazing so far, my DFI X38-TR2 used only 1.20v on Auto vcore option to run the Q6600 at stock speeds (the high VID one used 1.32v).

I have everything in auto so far and going to start overclocking this new baby.

    Also it's running Prime95 3600Mhz (9x400) with 1.25vcore, 1.23Nb and 1.21Vtt Impressive compared to my old Q6600.

So the best thing to do if you wanna get a Q6600 these days is to scout for low VID voltage.

Forgive my noobness. But when purchasing, how do you find out the vid voltage and batch number? I'm under the impression the batch number is on the CPU itself.

The Batch number is located on the retail box, as well as the cpu. You won't know the vid until you actually install the cpu and use coretemp to view the vid.

Actually you can search the VID by batch number (not all of them but that's how I got mine):

My Q6600.....3.825GHz (425 x 9) @ 1.42V. Idle temp at 30-34 across all cores...watercooled. 430 fsb requires over 1.5V so 3.8 is the max I'm going to run.....and will probably back off to 3.6 for daily use (that requires only around 1.25V or thereabouts.)

At 3.8GHz, it's been completely stable through Prime 95 overnight and Everest stability testing for hours......stress temps in mid-50's.

Also please nvm the temperaturs, as the cooler wasn't mounted on the cpu's, it was only lieing on them !

If you guys want one of those pm me for more info, though the first one is already being sold.

If needed might try to get more with VID: 1.0875 or lower
VID is only a statistical indication, it won't grant you an OC. Better post some small FFT work on them overclocked

    I'm oc'ing a Q6600 for a friend, it's cooled by a Swiftech H2O-220 watercooling kit, what's the maximum voltage I should use for a 24/7 oc? Is 1.45v still considered safe? Thanks.

Ultimately, it's what ever you feel comfortable with. However, most Kentsfields can easily support up to and perhaps over 1.55v with decent water cooling.

What cooler are you using? Throw some water on it and the temp should go down. Is it a B3 or a G0. B3's run very hot and don't OC as well. If it's a G0 you probably got unlucky and got a bad one.

Thanks, I guess I'll use 1.45v for him, I want to leave just a bit of safety margin for other people's comp.
