Try to clear cmos or load factory default after firmware upgrading. It will be fine normally.
Keep the Faith!
works fine now![]()
The posting/boot problem I was having with my first P5K-E board (black box, 1.00g) is now completely gone with the new board I got (blue box, 1.02g). I'd like to start OC'ing now and was wondering if anyone with a similar setup to mine (bottom) can offer me some advice/tips before I start.
Intel Q6600 G0 with TRUE-120
Crucial Ballistix 2x1gb PC2-6400
WD Caviar 500gb
eVGA 8800GTS 512MB (G92)
Corsair 520hx
what is the difference 1.00g and 1.02g ?
I'd like to know that to as I got a blue boxed 1.00G version.
ASUS P5K-E/WIFI-AP, Q6600 @ 3.4GHz 1.3v, Tuniq Tower 120, 4Gb OCZ PC2 8500 Reaper HPC, Asus HD5870, 320Gb Seagate 7200.10 SATAII, 500Gb Sammy F1, NEC ND4550A DVD burner, Corsair TX 750w PSU, Antec P182.
The difference is that the blue boxes are the more newer boards (most with newer revisions). The original color for the box used to be black and I'm not sure when they made the change, but they started using the blue colored boxes.Originally Posted by draxx
Draxx, I'm surprised you got a 1.00g with a blue box and not a 1.01g/1.02g. What I'm guessing is that when they made the switch to the blue boxes, you got one of the first ones with the older revision board.
Has anyone noticed the huge vdrop on vDIMM with 1006?
I get 2.05V on DMM when BIOS set to 2.30V, and 2.00V DMM BIOS@2.25V
Had to dail up the vdimm with vmod to compensate it.

I'm having issues with my 8800GTS 512mb. I get less than half of FPS than my previous EVGA 780i and Maximus Formula X38. It's my second P5K-E, the first one used to run a 8800GT with no problems and got 15k+ on 3DMark using 602 Bios. Right now I'm using 1006. The card is fully seated and I've tried a bunch of drivers already. It crashed a few times when FPS seemed ok on 3DMark. Help please!!!

I get this sometimes because the PCIe 16x port gets set down to 1x.
The only way I can get it to go back to 16x is to fiddle with the PCIe
frequency in the bios, and the setting all depends on my current OC.
Use CPU-Z click on the "Mainboard" tab and check out the Graphics Interface
Link Width, if it says 1x then you have the same problem. Try setting it
in the bios to 105mhz or 110mhz or even 100mhz.

Yeap, I noticed 1x on CPU-Z but always set the frequency 110mhz. I'll increase or decrease and see what happens. I'll let you know, thanks a lot CrazyNuts!

Well that is the problem for sure then! The value that I have to set it to seems to change with my FSB freq, in other words If I change my FSB, I have to find the new PCIe freq value that works. You may even try Auto
I have my FSB at 440mhz now and auto is the one that works now.
Yea I know it's weird huh?

Changing the frequency didn't help but I moved my sound card to the last pci slot. Funny thing Windows didn't recognize my card and I had to reinstall the driver. Now even the sound is better!?!?! I'll do more testing to check if there's any conflict but for sure never had this kind of problem. Thanks a lot for all the help![]()

Guys how do you compare this to Abit IP35-E? I can get this one for $110 from a friend or the Abit IP35-E for $75...

There is quite a difference between the P5K-E and the IP35-E besides the price. They are really not it same class if you ask me. Both are good, one is a budget board, the other is mid-range,enthusist. If you're not going to need raid or firewire, the Abit is an excellent choice.
Hey guys just bought a Qx9650 and i'm having trouble getting prime stable with small FFT after about a hour and a half it will fail. Blend is fine all day long. My setting are cpu voltage 1.328v, PLL 1.6v, Fsb 1.40v, N/B I've tried 1.40v and 1.55v. usually blend is fine for getting a cpu stable but I would like to try and get FFT stable aswell. Any help would be great.

Hmm, interesting. Is there a measure point (that you know of) for vdimm
on top of the board. I am on 1006 and I would like to try it.
EDIT: Never mind, I was able the reach it from the bottom. As for the vdimm vdrop in 1006 mine does not
have it, I have my mem set to 2.35v, and thats my DMM reads from the measure point.
