    probably meant "DDR3"

Anyway i got X38 since i dont care until nehalem end of this year/beginning of next year. That time X38/DDR2 should do well. Besides i was not impressed by any DDR3 benchmarks, so the price/performance for DDR3 ratio is not too attractive.

when i had my board running with different divider, settings...no problem with the bios. We know the board is finicky w/ dividers anyway...so with the 300/800 i am running now i have this "stuck bios" problem once in a while...didnt have it running 266/667 AFAIK. Just always need to check whether its actually BOOTING with the settings and not at stock

hi all, i've this motherboard and one problem. my ram can't start orthos stable at 1066MHz, the max frequency i reached was 960MHz at 400MHz of bus... orthos stable for hour, but with other multiplier after a few second the test failed...

i tryed the configuration for bios by i4memory don't work

i've update bios at 1/11 version...

    @MARCO

First I would run Memtest #5, #7 and #8 at least 3 times each to check if Ram is passing then I would try 5-5-5-5-15 and changing 'Performance Level' to 7 or 8 and give Orthos another try.

On the subject from flashing bios from x38 to x48.Im not sure what this means.
Updated X48 MRC timing table values but,on my bonetrail x38 motherboard the last bios released had that in the notes.

    I think it wont work because 1st they said X48 = IHC10 and X38 = IHC9 and then there is the DDR3 for X48.

But if nothing of this is true and DFI decided to release 2 separate versions of the X48 (one DDR3 and one to substitute the X38 but using the same DDR2 and IHC9) it would probably work but I don't see the point in doing that.

Trust me guys it is not a misprint, there is a DDR2 X-48 in the pipe. Motherboardpro will have a limited few in stock on the 19th, (they expect them on the 18th) This is not a typo... DDR2 and X-48 DFI listened to what the customer wanted and acted.

    Hi Sam,

I got confused, you CAS4 the Mush's or the Ballistix? You go 4-4-4-4-15 at what Performance Level is that?

So flexy, are you stable now at 3.6GHz? Would you be able to post your BIOS settigns for me? I'm still having trouble getting there myself...

Oh, BTW - all this talk about the X48. Wasn't the X48 supposed to be a binned X38 chip? Trying to think where I saw that at

ski, whats your q6600 VID? This is so important!

And whats happening with your PC on the moment you get the error? I've noticed some patterns here and there.

I just made some changes in my system, got a RevAA1 board and when taking the RevAA0 out of the case and uninstalling hs's I noticed couple of things: SB and NB hate MX-2 thermal paste, they need AS5. Always be carefully with those mounts (especially NB), they never fit properly (heat in some poor contact area can make your OC bsod or reboot).

I also got a new q6600 and I started to play with it 4 hrs ago. My last one (L739A466) had a 1.2825v VID.

It was nice to hit 4050Mhz but it was too hot and needed 1.5v to get that.

I got a new Q6600 Batch #L745A793 that has a 1.21v VID and the first thing I noticed is the low volts the mobo posted for stock speeds, only 1.20vcore against 1.31v from last cpu.

I just started now and already got it 400*9 and I'm finding way easier to find the sweep spot then the high Vid version:

    Sam,

I have Ballistix Tracer 8500 (double sided chips believed to be 'cool' old version) and they don't like 4-4-4-4 with low NB and VTT volts.

Thanks Eva, comming from you is quite a compliment!
I wanna try to lower that soon :-)

Just realised it's all about VID on those Q6600. Lower VIDs better and low heat clockers.

My board booted up on stock settings and gave it only 1.20 for stock and I was wow this is something! The old q6600 I had needed 1.31v on cpu vcore set on auto.

    ---------------------------------------------
For someone else that's going to ask VID value's are displayed on CoreTemp and you can also look at other topics regarding VID and batch numbers before buying a Q6600:

that's 0.10-0.17v less vcore at 3.6ghz than the average Q6600 G0 i have seen! But what's your ambient room/case temps and water temps ?

Nothing special in my room and case temps I think:
    Room: 75oF
    Case: 83-86oF
Water temp I can't answer because I don't have a reader there (but it's not chilled or anything to cool it down, is a normal Asetek kit with only the cpu loop).

Well I got on the band wagon guys but it is not the LT or the UT... I am rocking the in the Dark. This BIOS is something else I can tell you that much for sure. Coming from an Abit BIOS to this I didn't even know where to start lol. But now after looking and seeing some of your guys's settings I was like ok, and went back to the BIOS. I wrote everything down that I seen in here with the LT and UT. I honestly didn't even look to see what MB was what when I wrote down the settings.

You see I really couldn't find and reliable info using google that could help me at all. I already knew about this thread, so I knew it wasn't for my exact MB. I searched through pages, and pages looking for screen shots, and BIOS pictures. You guys have a slightly different BIOS so I had to wing a few thing and change some options not exactly knowing what it did. I'm not sure about the LT/UT BIOS but if I want to up my Vcore I need to use the CPUVID option and set it to +175.0mV to reach a Vcore of 1.45. Looking around here it seems that the LT/UT BIOS has a Vcore option but I am not to sure.
Anyway after looking around and tinkering I am running at 475fsb, and ATM I am just going for max FSB and then I will tweak the rest later. I use a 1:1 ratio for this and 2.2 Vdimm so that I do not have to worry about my RAM stopping the FSB from climbing. I uploaded a screenie for you all to see, but I am going back to the BIOS for right now .

Plus i googles all over and evey link led to info that refrenced the mbpro sale. i am concerned that there is no ddr2 x48...

Thats probably the reason Mobopro's said a month or two ago that DFI LP x38 is dead, not coming for stock anymore. They know more about DFI then DFI employee's

But will the x48 ddr2 be a disguised x38? Wait and see...
