    Jimmyj,

That method is not going to work because all that header does is bring your front panel HD audio connections to a header on the back of the case. You still have the problem of having one sound card that cannot handle 2 separate outputs.

The easiest way around this is to get a simple USB to coax or digital adapter, this can act as a second sound card and can be setup to get output from winamp or the like. Here's a larger example of what I'm talking about but you should be able to find one for cheap, they're pretty common for laptops that don't have digital outputs on them:

    Hope that helps you out.

    Hey guys,

I have to disagree with you to some extent. At the moment, I have two discrete audio channels from the same onboard sound. If I set s/pidf (digital out) as default and start media center, it plays in teh living room and continues to hold that stream. If I switch the default audio to line out (analog out) and start say itunes, or a video game, it will play in the computer room on the 2nd set of 5.1 speakers, just not in digital. Hatax, that header is a s/pdif digital header, and I believe the front panel audio is only analog - two different headers.

My question at this point is how the internal s/pdif header will act in the realtek control panel. You think it is the same source as the s/pdif out on the back panel on the mobo or is there is no way I will be able to differentiate between the two anywhre in vista or the realtek control panel?

    Thanks again,
    JJ

replaced the heatsink mounting solution with bolts and put on ceramique, even with a tiny fan on the center heatsink I see my pwm1 at 79C after load atm.

    This is a Q6600 400*9 atm.

    MCH 1.23
    ICH 1.09
    DDR2 1.9
    ICHIO 1.55

I should be considerably under that shouldn't I? Temp wise? It doesn't seem to go over, atleast not yet, and cpu temp 68C max atm, but I'm worried about the PWM.

that should be fine.....Unless you are under load like 24/7 but I think pwm can go up to 100c and be safe....
