tRD has "tweakable" on DFI boards for some time. My x38 has the ability to change it (performance level:PL). I highly doubt that they would remove it on this one.

    About the southbridge:

DFI was hoping to use the ICH10, but had to switch to ICH9R, because Intel will not have it ready for when the X48 launches/DFI launches the board.

The correct name is "DFI LANParty UT X48-T3R"

Actually, it's better to say "accommodated" PCIe placement, because of the DIMM array being pushed to the center of the board.
    Check the X38 model layout.

They changed their mind because of Intel's launch schedule.

They did, but it seemed like a mistake. Intel's roadmaps have been pretty clear that ICH10 would not appear until P45.

Still can't wait to see what kind of performance Mr. Wu's bios can get from DDR3 memory.

If only it was DDR2. DDR3 is just WAY too expensive. Is there going to be a DDR2 version?

Even the revised PCI-E layout isn't that brilliant (as someone else has already observed): if you CrossFire with two hot cards, like X2's, the first one is gonna have very little air over the fan/heatsink.

    X38's layout is much better.

Happy with my X38-T2R, I suppose

It's not gonna be everyone's fav board at CeBit but I like this collabo between 2 of my fav companies... Wish it had more x1 slots but I guess you can't make everyone happy...

hmm, too bad they used IFX designed chipset heatsinks. I like the regular design better. Cant complain about how well it will perform though.
