I tried more Vcore more Vfsb. no boot and sometimes no POST.
tried 8X425 and 7X425. no go...
i got it stable 3.6 1.400V,3.4 -1.344V 3.2-1.304V what do you think? is that normal? 200Mhz 0.5V increase?
i think the board is having realy hard time with that 425 bus...i'll try to override it and do 7X450 see what happens.

Hard to believe the P5K Premium is limiting your FSB. But maybe your CPU has a low FSB wall

Elio I had the same Issue with my other Q6600 L723A couldn't reach more than 460x7 and couldn't boot at 450x9

I have a P5K deluxe and i love this mobo, i started to think that it was her causing that wall but i was wrong it was the quad...I now have a Q6600 L737B and can do 485x7, 450x9 and all mobo settings at min values (SB,NB,PLL)...So the wall was the batch...

    Cheers

Nice to see I'm not the only one getting 8x475 FSB on the P5K (mine is Premium) at minimal volatage for all MB sttings

Yes also no problem at all with 475x8, all at min values I think that Elio's problem is the batch...

L737B here too. Did 475x8 for daily use on P5K Deluxe (min volts too):

And it's not the max...just my desired config

    GA-X38-DQ6 too....but I only have screen of 4000Mhz:

    DFI-P35-T2R -> 470Mhz FSB max Prime95
Maximus formula --> Max boot @ 460FSB hahaha, hate this POS.

You also confirm that these P5K series are really great boards. Nice OC for that low vcore. Your temperatures are load? As I see Prime95 in the background. You got a very good chip. I should also migrate to that Fusion + Washer like you. The GT is limiting me

    Yes it's with 2 hrs running prime95

Only 56°C load on small FFT at 25°C ambiant, that's great, really. I take 10°C more at same OC and same ambiant but with 1.43v too, maybe that's the problem. To have lower temperatures, I need a 20°C ambiant.

I think I will change my WB one of these days since lapping the CPU didn't help. Also, this weekend, I'm gonna give it a third lap session with mirror finish up to P1800 grain (hope I don't reach the cores ).

I tweaked the screws a bit on my zalman 9700, and got some improvement on the two hot cores. I'll remove it and remount later...

    thanks for the tip!

Hey guys, i picked up a G0 and some Dominators. Some initial testing to see whats limiting my overclock.

I can lower the VCore some more to get it stable and its not my ram... Motherboard is a P5B Deluxe that i had running 520 1:1 with my 6420 and my D9GMH. WTH ? I think it might be this bios. any ideas ?

I dont believe that quads and the P5B go very well together. You need to move to P35 or X38 chipset to get the best out of it.

I have the P5K-E asus mobo.
and its not the mobo that is limiting the FSB...my friend as the same spec as mine different cpu batch ,borad is limitng him at 480... and some borads can do 500 with not much truble...well it's my Q6600 that doesnt want to go any higher... well for now i'm running 24/7 3.2 rocksolid at 1.304V no more than 50C load. so i think i'll just wait maybe later i'll upgrade the CPU or the entire rig...

More vcore should get you higher - Its only the later batches that seem to get 3.6 on low volts. I need above 1.4v but it idles 35c load 60c so thats good enough for me. Quads dont start cooking till they get above 70c .

Poor you - I cant get stable above 3.6. How quickly we forget the struggle with B3's to be replaced with the expectation from GO's

If you add your specs in your signature, people would help you easier... As I don't know your setup, your memory could be limiting you

Uhmm - I have a G0 and X38 DQ6 F8d and CPU will not do 3.6. The Vid is 1.325 . The only stability I can get is 8X 425 @ 1.41. I tried loosening strap 2.0. I upped vcore to 1.5, I upped Nbridge to +2.0 I upped MCH tp +2.5. Still I could not get 9 X400 stable at any configuration. EIST on. EIST off. Loadline calibration on/off combination both off/ on. Nada

I have pretty good water cooling and at 1.41, +1 NB, +1 FSB in Bios I am idle at 27-32C and full load and 47-50C full load. I dropped multi and FSB would get me past 450 before my DDR2 800 started holding me back. So I know its not the board, and memory is running at 850 2B strapping 4-4-4-12 2.1V stable now. So my only conclusion is I have that very rare q6600 G0 that will never hit 3.6.

I can't tell you more about the CPU as it was OEM.

i can choose from the following G0s....which one is better for OC results? will be using it with the DFI DK P35 mobo.

    ~L738A
    ~L744B
    ~L740B

Aiming for at least 3.2 (3.6 is probably what I want ~50% OC)

It's quite possible that you are using too much voltages on the NB/CPU PLL/FSB.

Try setting the board to auto on voltages and manually set the FSB and multiplier and see what the board does for you. Might be suprised.

Picked up a L737046 at micro center. (Columbus Oh) does 3.7 GHz at 1.35volts prime95 stable. Pretty much stock settings on the board accept for MCH which i raise to 1.4 from 1.25 on my Abit x38. Would do much higher (already did 3.9 GHz) but alas I’m only playing with a slicked up tuniq tower but my 830's fans help out. Low 50's load, 30s/40 idle. 21c room temp.

Buddy picked up this chips twin. I’d say we are lucky souls.

I plan on keeping my computer on 24/7, its stable at 3.6 now, but it takes 1.435v under load to keep it prime stable. I would have to run about 1.5 to get 3.8 from my limited testing.

Do i keep my q6600 at 3.6, or go for 3.8?
