clip them at the side so HS wont come off that easily.
That's just a reminder for the new comers to this memory... The heat spreader is a engineering's peace of crap and will loose contact with the chips in about 1-2months, then the mem's can overheat and go bye bye...

Tell me please it would fit vertically - the NB heatsink is it not too high?
The Noctua NH-U12P is 126mm wide plus the clips, which stick out another 4-5mm on each side. Also, the height of the bottom fin is 40mm from the base. As long as the lower part of the NB heatsink is less than 40mm from the top of the CPU (which I think it is), you should be OK to overlap it. Is yours the Armor or new Armor+? I had a Xaser VI (which is the same as the new Armor+) and I think you should be OK there.

BTW all - I figured out the audio problem I was having. Simple id10t error

IDK how similar the layout of this board is to the P35-T2R, but that mobo is listed on the Noctua website as compatible with the NH-U12P.

I recently up graded from my Q6600 to a QX9650.

My issue is this. When I purchased my new cpu, i just pulled the old one and booted up. It worked fine for 7 days. Matter of fact i was able to achieve the results in my sig effortlessy.

I decided to go back to stock. No reason really. Then my system started freezing at the booting progress bar (Vista ultimate x64). Then I tried going back to my stable oc, again, same thing booting while freezing.

I figured somethign was gimped so i tried to do a fresh install. Windows gets to the first reboot and then it freezes at the loading bar again. Every single freeking time.

I pulled the battery for a while, I have reset the cmos, I have disconnected the dvd-rw, I have tried a single new hd instead of my raid array. I have tried all combinations or ram down to one stick. Tried a different video card, different ram, dividers, voltages. You think of it, I have tried it. Nothing works. Always freezing.

One time, after having the pc off for a day, i was able to install windows, but then as soon as I get to the desktop, BAMN frozen. GEEZ.

So then I put my q6600 back in and what do you know? The problems go away.

Now, before you say that my QX9650 is fried, I am now typing with it in my asus maximus, with absolutely no signs of these issues at all. None. Zero. Nada.

So what is up? Is there an issue with the 1/11/08 bios? That is what I a running. I cant think of anything.

Vista + QX9650 is def. a no go on this board - maybe in the future DFI will sort out the issues

The problem could be only with high of NB Heatsink.

Actually it works fine if you disable virtualization and multi XXXX (lol forgot the word) on the cpu section of the bios. once all the updates etc are installed you can enable them again. I believe Origin Unknown was who told me about it.

Right. I just don't have the measurement for that right now. Like I said though - it is 40mm from the top of the CPU IHS and not from the motherboard surface.

I heard that there is problem with regulation, true? And is there some kind of problems with this board? 85 pages is just too much to read...

Try using the search feature at the top of the page to narrow it down. For example, here is a search for "voltage" (only nine pages):

    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...archid=5368507

And one for "problem" (only 5 pages):

    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...archid=5368548

sounds like a bios problem to me, which is why i went back to the IP35 Pro...you don't have to do that BS with the Pro and a QX9650.

    OMG

    I'm so sick of waiting.

First they say got DFI stock on february, then delay till mid of feb. Later on they told me the board will arrive on 29th Feb.

Now they telling me there's no stock arrive and maybe Mid of March can get. They can't give me the actual date, later wait till mid of march no stock also.

Might really go for Asus Maximus Formula.

So I buy a premium board, a premium cpu, and then I have to mickey mouse it to work? Ridiculous if you ask me. Even with this silly work around, I can install Vista, but then it will freeze more often than not when doing a warm boot afterwards. Only cold boots seem to work ok.

Even with all of the available options in the bios for tweaking, I would have rather had a board that at least works as it should.......

it's strictly a QX9650 bios code problem with vista...when i had my Q6600 in, it worked fine with vista.
