I currently have a 150GB Raptor that I've had no problem running on the ICH9R controller using AHCI. Boot/OS Drive.

I recently tried to upgrade to the Samsung F1 as my new Boot/OS Drive. I have read the posts and threads about people having issues with using certain drives and I believe the Samsung was one of them.

Using a slipstreamed WINXP CD with the latest Intel AHCI Drivers version 7.8.0.1012:
This would always fail during the file copy of WINXP. It would get stuck on certain file copies for long periods of time and eventually give an error stating it was unable to copy the file. Every time I tried to reinstall it would get stuck on a different file.

F6 - with install of version 7.5.0.1017 from ASUSs' web site using a floppy:
This would copy all the files although it seemed really slow. Eventually after selecting the region and during the install it would bluescreen.

I eventually gave up and tried to run Samsung's HUTIL which found the ECC Error, although reading on the newegg forums it appears to be a problem with HUTIL and not the drive.

Has anyone successfully run the SAMSUNG F1 hard drives in AHCI or RAID yet? I know another poster in this thread was successful in running a non-F1 Samsung successfully using the latest BIOS and 7.5.0.1017 drivers.

I like the reviews and specs on this drive but wonder if it's a problem with the drive or our motherboards (P5K-Premium). Dont have another MB or another Samsung F1 to test.

My Specs:

ASUS P5K-Premium BIOS v504
Kingston 4x1GB 8500 HyperX
Western Digital 150GB Raptor
