Hmm. Are you sure it's not 11.5x8mm? If it's really 12 and not 11.5 it would indicate much older Micron ICs.

they use these chips coz they can make 2GB stick?
Yes. In terms of 1Gbit ICs you would need 16 of them to create a 2GB memory module, which is a common amount.

I measure again and it is 12mm
That's why the red tracer 2X2GB kit is out.........................

What can i say... really, really bad luk!!!

Mine do 533,3 at 4-4-4-12 at 2,1, with some air cooling (noiseblocker -8cm)

I never could get them over 537.5 (ddr2-1075) with 4-4-4 timings no matter the voltage. So I ran them at that (537.5 @ 2.35 volts, which seemed stable)

Then they started crapping out slowly, random restarts and freezes. Occasionally they wouldn't post and I'd have to reset the CMOS to default and apply my settings again.

So I went back to my Corsair 6400C4's (at 1:1 which is 430 @ 4-4-4 for me) and the system has been happy.

I then stuck them in another system I was messing with (e2160) and ran them at modest timings/speed... seemed all good for that purpose (I only had them at 416 with 4-4-4 timings) until Sunday the system rebooted and failed to post.

After that only one stick will post but I have to set the bios for 266 first. The remaining stick failed to post above 266.

Needless to say I RMA'd them today... we'll see how that goes.

I'm guessing I got a bad pair? Or did I fry them with too much voltage? I did have a fan over them the whole time, the never even felt warm to the touch.

Another question... anyone notice the heat spreaders don't make good contact with the chips? My heat spreaders seemed to be bowed out near the contacts so they wern't making good contact with the bottom 1/3 of the chips... maybe this is why mine died?

How long have you been running these?
I had a set of these first time around and they too went bad on me which started the whole RMA loop. Maybe these will last at rated speeds.

Only had them for a couple of months... Im running them under the "recommended" voltage and I have VERY good case cooling. My CPU heat sink is a downdraft type (SI-128 SE), which means Im getting some air flow on the DIMMs. Also, my side panel case fan blows fresh air on a portion of the motherboard. So far everything seems good. If my RAM dies, I guess, Ill have to RMA and hope I get another 16FDx batch...

Theses are soo much better than the Corsair XMS2 rev2.1s I had.

I have great airflow. Intake cosists of 3x120mm in front and 1 pci slot fan for my on vga and 1x120mm, 1x92mm, 1x80mm for exhaust. I also have a 80mm spot fan blowing directly on my ram and NB. I also have the Tuniq's 120mm aiding in the flow through the case. A direct line from front to back. Not to mention the 140mm in my psu exhaust. So plenty of air moving around in there.

I had my first set of 16FDx's for 2.5 months before death. Then I got the single sided mods which died within a few weeks, both sets. I asked for the double sided ic's this time around. They had no prob giving me those.

I hope you don't have probs with yours.

My DDR-800 (PC2-6400) V1, and my New DDR-1066(PC2-8500) Version 2 sticks love working together. I didn't need to up the northbridge at all, so a easy 4GB now. that makes me so happy.
My Rig can do EpicFLOPs, Can yours?

So you didn't loose any fequency range when you went from 2x1 to 4x1 sticks. That is amazing. I thought (usually) 4 sticks is harder than 2 to oc. How long have you been running at those freq's and voltage and are they double or single sided ic's?

2gb modules will never be d9gmh. its basic math. you need 16 chips of d9gmh to get a 1gb stick. that means you need 32 chips to get a 2gb module. have you ever seen a normal desktop ram with 32 chips? no.

Well finally had a little time to work with my new double sided Ballistix back from RMA. They are so far performing well. Hopefully will get some life out of them. We'll see.

Is there any way to tighten this up to gain in my write or copy scores?

congrats for the double sided RMA!
see if you can change the performance level from 7 to 5 to give you a boost on copy and write socre!

Tried PL6 and locked up as soon as I hit "apply". No likey at all. What else can I try? Looking for any gains worth the trouble.

which direction? A divider that would allow me to lower my performance lvl would mean I would loose speed. If I raise speed I will have to raise voltage. I gotta be honest with you I don't want to burn these up and have to go through rma again. Or am I misunderstanding you?
