Thumbs up First time, long time! (Pic Intensive)

Hey all, first time poster, long time reader. As a moderator on another forum I have learned everything you want to know has been asked a dozen times... minimum. So I have been coming hear for about a year reading up on all you experts and your experiences.

About a year back I bought a thermaltetake LSC kit (I know I know). I didn't know anything about WC'ing computers. After hooking everything up (cpu /gpux2) my temps were running hotter then air cooling. Jumped on google, first site that came up was this one and in the stickies "DO NOT BUY A KIT"... opps.

Well trying to cool those three components on that kit with a 240mm rad just wasn't going to work. So I searched and picked up (At the time) a good low res rad, black ice pro 360mm. Mocked up the front of the case and all has been well since then. Well... it didn't break

I got bored and it is tax season so I wanted a project, after reading countless post's I placed an order with Petra last week and got this:

    Laing DDC w/ Petra's DDCT-01 top
    D-tek Fusion block
    Swiftwech MCW60-R GPU (x2)
    Swiftech MCR220 Rad
    EK multi option reservoir 400.
    Tygon 3606 1/2 3/4OD

    System:
AMD FX dual core 6000+ (Black)
    Asus MSN-SLI deluxe mobo
    4 gigs cosair dominator 800 DDR-2
    Asus 7950 gt's x2 (I know, upgrade time)
    Soundblaster gamerz pro
    WD 150 gig raptor, 320 gig, 500 gig hd's
    800 watt PSU, etc

    Loop:
    pump/cpu/240mm rad/gpu/gpu/360mm rad-res

And a bunch of odds and ends, sleeving, fittings, etc. I cannot say enough about Petra, got a nice hand written note and they sent me a Petra pen. Wonder what I would of gotten if I spent more then a grand

First I wanted to get the case painted, plus I had to cut the dual 120mm holes for the top of the case. Trying to keep it all internal.

Now to be honest, if I knew how long this whole precess would take, I probably would have thought twice about it.. redbull and DD coffee ftw!

After 4 cans of flat black. Primer, paint, paint, clear coat.

I didn't get pics of me drilling the holes in the case. Since the top is graded, the drill (4 1/2 inch hole saw) kept trying to break my wrist's every time it got caught, just didn't occur to me to stop and take pics.

Had to mod the plate the holds the on/off, reset switch, etc. Wouldn't fit with the new rad on the top of the case.

Feel free to flame the sweatshirt... embarrassing

Now these next parts I didn't take any pics of either. Why? Well I had never sleeved a PSU before. Couldn't find a writeup about it... guess that was a good time to post. Anyhow, took me a few hours just to get the two 6 pins, 4 pins, and a bunch of misc wires done. Was getting the hang of it, but I looked at the 24 pin and I had enough.

Drilled two 1/2 inch holes in the motherboard tray. One for the 6 pin GPU power, and the other for the 4 pin mobo power. Ran all the wiring behind the mobo tray to clean everything up. Look a ton better.

Two things I went against the grain is the 1/2 tubing, simply, they were out of 7/16's. However working with that PITA thermaltake stuff, it wasn't a bother. And I went with a reservoir. Which seem to be preference. I am spoiled on them. I did go with a HUGE one, just because I have yet to see that size run anywhere and I wanted something a bit different. Made bleeding the system a 5 minute process

    And finally:

    And all buttoned up:

Under load it has yet to break 100'F, CPU or GPU's.

Will start seeing how much I can over clock it tomorrow, as for now, I need some sleep.

BIG thank you to you all. You have been very entertaining, and moreover very informative and helpful over this past year. It is a great forum and community of people. This was a lot of fun and as soon as I grow skin back onto my fingers I will enjoy it. Sorry for the long post. Again, thanks.

    Best wishes
    Chris

It seems to me that your tubing runs could be shorter, but I will say that reservoir is a beast and looks quite awesome all lit up.

That is by far the BEST LCS conversion I have ever seen! And I love the black paint, I did that on my stacker and was blown away by how much of a difference it makes.

The only thing you could use is a second radiator, But other then that, It's golden... Great job!

Thanks for pointing that out, I had not noticed. Next time I tear it down I will trim them up.

Running a 360mm in the front and a 240 on the top. I don't think I got the will to add a third

    Yes its a Raptor X....
I need a fan to low the temperature of the HDD because its HOT, very HOT... I was thinking to put some cooling solution behind the HDD, like a fan 120mm or 80mm.

Very nice looking. Also where did you get the red dye? Every time ive got some it ends up either pink, or a weird purple colour when you run a uv cathode.

Question... Does a Optical drive fit into the top 5.25 bay slot? i know on my case the PA120.3 doesnt seem like it will fit.. unless i relocate the power switch and Led lights to another location and fit the drive up on the top

With a PA 120.3 in the front of my armor, only the top bay is fully free. Since I needed it for my optical drive, I did something like the OP did and gutted out the floppy/power combo thing so that it was just the front plate with the buttons/leds and the side guard rails. This will let you put it in any bay you wish and not pose a problem for the radiator.

Yup, however with the 240 res on top, no room for an optical drive. My cd/dvd is external anyhow so no worries on this end. More convenient to have my drive on the desk.

Very nice, I have always liked my TT cases. Lots of room to mod them up. I am looking at a mountain mod or lian cube for my next case.
