Top secret Area 51 MIB edition eh ? Any clues?

I broke out the junior hacksaw last night and did some sawing to fashion a cpu cooler into something that would fit on a half height card. Ended up hitting it with a hammer. I need to get a dremel one day. Now just waiting for the thermal epoxy to turn up and another stick of ram.

There's now less than 1.5 weeks to go folks.

    Regards

    Andy

Its made by Sparkle.... advertised as being 128bit.

Hacksaw and bench grinder + wire wheel works a lot better than a dremel a lot of the time..

You'll laugh when you see a picture of the heatsink, it looks like an Orang u tang has gone demented with a chainsaw.

is this one of those occasions where you started off calm and with finesse only to end up totally frustrated by the lack of progress and solely aiming just not to be outdone by a piece of metal that wouldn't damn well cut?

Exactly, including a million of those momments where you saw for 30 seconds and then look expecting it to be through and it's almost there.

20 minutes later it's still almost there.

Eventually I gave up on sawing and did some panel beating and ripping bits off with some molegrips.

    Regards

    Andy

    Rol-co

When you attempted to use the DDR Maximizer did you attach a feedback line to it? I was also planning on using it to feed the gpu core but you're unsuccessful attempt has worried me slightly.

Nope , just used a ddr1 adapter and put a wire form the conector to the card, not realy the way i think but did memory too but it was not working properly .

    Hipro say's this.

Yes you could do that by unloldering the VGPU coils from ONE side (the side that goes to CORE) and on that spot, you solder a cable from the Maxi and the black cable (of the Maxi - ground) somewere near the other one...
A problem with that MAY be that the internal circuit of the VGA may "read" its VGPU and report (to itself) some faulse and don't let the core power on....It such a case you must find the feedback resistor, unsolder it and solder it ON the coils you have unsolder (the side of them that is "on air") so to read propper VGPU...

hmmmm - I may run the DDR maximiser off a separate PSU and load it prior to boot, guess we'll see

Actually when you tried the DDR maximiser were you running the memory voltage independently as well?

Infact! You were able to use your own power board design so its not the card.....

I'll try my luck and see if I'm successful

Nice work T_M looking forward to some results.

Very impressed with J Bravo's "I'll try my luck " approach. Yeepers, you young guys !

I've got this really old fashioned approach of stick in a stock bench then bench before every change and save it in case it blows. I do one mod at a time and bench before and after, I do the easy mods first to get that score in the bag.

My runs this time over 14 days went

    Stock
    Stock maxed
    volt mod gpu
    volt mod mem

    to come

    new heatsink
    suicide runs.

    Regards

    Andy

memory was only stock.....modded ofcourse but all i did was little testruns at air.
it worked , but voltage set became higher at windows, very strange thing with the maxi, maybe it's just mine who does.

want to send it in for repair but hipro doesn't react on pm or mail.... so it was a waste of money.

T_M there's a little bit of space in there I think you can fit some more caps

    j/k

Looking good - you worries about the GDDR2 temps tho?

    nice time

did some quick testing last night

my card does 675/510 without artifacting in ATItool at 1.34vcore/2.05vdimm

i did some quick 01 runs at same settings with different mutlies at 3GHz/3.5GHz/4GHz with an E6850
    results were around 23.4/23.5/23.6
    talk about scaling hahahahahaha

i'll try mounting that TTBT on the core and push hard on the vcore and see where i end up with more volts....shame about crappy RAM

dinos - if it is only 64bit then the store I picked it up from is on the hook

Also have my "scrap" water cooling setup done enough to run now. Those old Danner Mag 5's are a bit noisy lol.... but it flows like crazy!

Nice shader clock Stevil! Now if we could just re-solder some faster memory on these things. I've pushed '01 pretty hard and still come up short @ 550 memory

    Lookin mean T_M!

Is there anyway to ease the load on the mosfets without a seperate power supply? Like adding additional ones or anything?

I would think if you had identical mosfets you could solder them in parallel. I don't know enough about power supply circuits though, so that's just a guess.
