I can't believe I actually popped onto Petras in time to order this. I got my paycheck stub in and saw that a bonus from work is coming this week, so I was looking to see if there is anything that I want that isn't that expensive to buy. So I cruised over to Petras and low and behold on the front page is the black edition. Sweet!

Friend: Do you have a spare PSU lying around?
Me: No why?
Friend: My PSU just blew up, I think the second 8800GTX might have been too much for it to handle
Me: what PSU was that again?
Friend: Antec 480w

@ kevinbo03:
Do you have any comparison of RAM temps from before/after? The main reason why I'm getting this set is to cool the ram and pwm.. since apparently if I push my ram 25MHZ over the factory OC I get random -red dots of doom- in GoW and CoD4. I'm trying to figure out if it's just a crappy MHZ wall on my card ram, or if these sinks go way above and beyond stock ram cooling or even those copper bga sinks you had before to help me push this sucker to the 1000 mark.

We've been in touch this whole time, and you could have asked me for a refund at any point.
I got badly backlogged, and was working absoultely nutty hours to try to get these sinks into the hands of all of those who wanted them including you.
The day that I found out that the new sinks were a go, I said that it would be about 1-1.5 weeks before they were complete. You contacted me 9 days later saying that you couldn't wait any longer, even though they were exactly on time as I had promised. I offered to spend $40 on Global express mail out of my own pocket to make up for the delays.
I just got them in my hands back from the plating shop thursday evening. It would have been a day sooner if the platers had held them for pickup like we had instructed, but they decided to ship them anyways.
We managed to get two shipments out to Petra's and sidewinder via UPS on thursday, and I didn't make it with yours since it was going to a different shipper. I worked a 10 hour day on Friday and couldn't make it to the Post office. When I went to pack and ship them on Saturday, I realized that I was short on nylon washers so would have to wait until Monday so that I could get more washers from my machinist. Unfortunately I didn't realize that Monday was a federal holiday, and the Post office was closed.
In all honesty I meant to drop them off today, but I spent the whole day on a 20ft ladder running electrical conduit, almost was shocked to death because some jackass turned on a breaker that I had tagged out, and as an added bonus received a nasty burn on my right index finger. I just got off work and didn't have enough time to race traffic back to drop off your package.![]()
For the record, I am making absolutely nothing on these Rev. 2 sinks. My machinist is barely turning a $2 profit per set when he counts in overhead. I just gave the job to him as a favor to him, and to get the huge weight off of my back.
I've gone well over $100 out of pocket and spent at least 10-12 hours of my personal time to make these Rev. 2 sinks available in quantity as a favor to the community. My machinist only made enough on them to cover his standard rate and pay the light bill, so he isn't exactly getting rich either. If anyone is curious I'd be happy to list the expenses.
Tom, as you've heard several times before, I'm very sorry for the delay. I've tried to be as fair as I can to as many people as I can. It just has been a monumental task to handle with my day job taking up most of my time, and frankly I am *thrilled* that it is finally over.![]()

My hat is off to you for helping the community out. Folks just don't realize how much time is invested in custom fabrication stuff like this, especially when you start counting the hours shipping and everything else involved to make it happen.Originally Posted by iandh

I couldn't be happier with your contribution to this board and your contributions to the community. I was happy to purchase some from Petra's as soon as I saw then back up in stock...am sorry to hear you aren't making profit on thesebut seriously thank you for everything you do communicating with us (helping me with a lot of questions and research for my upcoming build) and for making these sweet, sleek, functional coolers.
Again thank you very much.
Well, I would assume it does not cool as well as the MCW14's. While they may be loose and frustrating (In my experience) they cool very well. Much more surface area per chip, and im sure the fact that they are copper helps.
However, Im also sure that Ian's sinks cool much better then stock. When I left for work (which was 2 seconds after my last post) I started atitool's artifact testing tool. Now that Im back, My ramsink is quite hot. With this in mind, I would say that MCW14's cool much better.
HOWEVER... Memory isn't too sensitive to heat. So while Ian's sinks wont cool the most, They are more then adequate. It's basically a similar situation to cooling Mosfets on motherboards- Yes, you do need to cool them- But not to excess.
Anyways, I would suspect your memory is to blame, And not the heat. What kind of card are you using?
EDIT: Right now, Using a cheapo thermometer, The ramsink on the memory is 111F between Chip 3 and 4, And The Mosfet one is 102F. The Mostfet is getting some very limited airflow from my chipset fan.
EDIT EDIT: Almost forgot: Thanks Ian. I love the sinks, and all your work is very appreciated. Your contribution will be enjoyed by many people, And It is acts of charity such as this that make places like XS special. Cheers!

I'd bet 99% that you have Qimonda ram.
My old evga had Qimonda, and it wouldn't even OC to 910mhz without crashing. I got a screechy cap on it after a while and RMA'ed it, and the new card that I got had Samsung ram. It OC'ed up to the 975mhz range stable and would bench at 1000mhz using the same exact pair of my ramsinks.
I've heard that the Qimonda chips are being pushed within their limits running at stock speed, and that the Sammys have looser timings and typically a bit more headroom.
edit: Much earlier in this thread a user posted temps 2C cooler with my sinks than with the enzo sinks, which are similar to the mcw14's.
My guess is that in cases with poor airflow my sinks may perform the same or slightly better than the forged copper pin sinks, and mine would undoubtedly lose in high airflow situations.
The reason for this is that in low air flow situations the inner pins radiate into each other, drastically reducing the effective surface area.

I have this plus an S1 with an 800RPM Scythe Slipstream.
^ So as you can see the best sinks I've got on there are Zalman Aluminum sinks. And iirc I do have Qimonda chips so maybe I'll try to make the card croak so I can RMA that junk and get some.. revised board. I hate being stuck at factory settings. So depressing.

This to me is a shame. Iandh comes up with an idea at his home and fabricates a product that is truly head and shoulders above anything else that is on the market, and it ends up being an unprofitable stressor for him to be able to deliver in quantity. Along with others, I say thank you for your innovation and time.
I would like to see someone like Swiftech or Danger Den license this and run with it as this is such a superior concept. That way Iandh would make the money he deserves for coming up with this, and the watercooling community would have these readily available.

I didnt dispute any of what you said apart from this line "In all honesty I meant to drop them off today" which has been a recurring theme. Im not willing to drag it out over the forum - just wanted to show i had no ETA to all the people waiting for them...
Im just an impatient SOB who's dying to get them in and get all these people emailing me every day a lovely set of sinks![]()

I wasn't trying to air dirty laundry, I just felt the need to make a distinction between false promises, and sincere ones that weren't kept.
The last thing I would want is to make you look bad through my failure to deliver on time.
Either way, they are going out today period, and that is written here for the whole forum to see.![]()

Uhhh no I'm not going to go out of my way to make it go bad, I mean it locks up on it's own sometimes, I'll just let it do that and keep records of the failure. So I can RMA it. Assuming it remains an issue. You're going to try to screw up the card on purpose and them RMA it? Man...
I'm not sleezy. yeesh.

been following this thread for awhile, Im in the uk and went onto petratech and emailed them see if they will ship over to me as im intrested in a set for my 8800gt nice work you have done shame about being out of pocket alot of people are greatful for the work you have put in
I didn't say that to complain, just to let people know I am not getting rich here.
I made pretty decent money on the Rev. 1 sinks before I outsourced them, and it didn't bother me one bit turning a portion of that profit back around into making these more widely available for enthusiasts.
When I first made these, it was solely for my own system, and I originally only planned on making 8-10 for a few friends online.
Now I have sold well over 200 sets.![]()

Awesome. I'd never thought I'd get a set. I remember a couple months ago when I first saw a thread about them, I was like "Holy crap, people can actually make that?". And now, my set anxiously awaits my pickup at Petra's. Thanks for this awesome, piece of hardware.
Here's to hoping you can make something just as awesome for the coming generations of video cards we 'enthusiasts' are going to get.

So once Petra's is out of stock, that's it right? No more?
