Your appreciation is much appreciated Hopefully I can help XS push out FM. You guys are so nice, I'm going to add my oc gaming rig to the fold. It spends allot of time idle so it should pump out some decent numbers.

TOOL is one of the last great progressive rock bands of our time. They do some amazing things with music and always keep their fans thinking. The Lateralus album was built on the fibonacci sequence. Here is a great youtube video that puts the complexity of how music and numbers are one, into perspective.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wS7CZIJVxFY

The name comes from the hidden song call Disgustipated from the album Undertow. The singers name is Maynard James Keenan, but in the song he's preaching to a million carrots who are at the brink of a vegetable genocide lead by rabbits with poor eyesight. He refers too himself as ReverendMaynard.

Post a cop of the log file and I'll take a look, what client are you using? SMP?

    Regards

    John.

Edit: just BR or do you have a hd dvd machine too? OT is mandatory here

Which version is it exactly? If it is the new V6 beta, well, I have no experience with that but I've heard it has issues.

The one I'd recommend is the Windows 2000/XP/Vista SMP client console version 5.91 beta6 (about halfway down the page). You'll need a password on the PC.

Here is a good guide to making the SMP client run as a service, so you don't have the window button on your taskbar all the time:
    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=174390

I don't use it since the network here at school can be unstable enough I want to keep track of what it is doing.

no HD-DVD. I'm working for a company that is putting a huge nail in the coffin for HD-DVD so I wasn't about to invest in another "Beta" player lol. Remember those?

Nice, that worked out perfectly. Now, what core usage setting would you suggest...honestly? I will not run at 100% so don't even try it lol. Would 25% be alright for a heavily overclocked (in my mind at least)quad core?

25% won't be very fast. Not sure if it would make the time requirements.

I'd personally do 100%, I run it like that on my main PC and don't even notice any slowdowns at all. But if you don't want to that's perfectly fine, up to you. I'd start at like 75% and see how that goes for you then tweak it from there if needed, up or down as you see fit.

100% is fine as the program will rack back its useage to 0% when any other program requires the cpu. Just try it at 100% then run a cpu intensive program, you will notice F@H reduce to almost 0.

    You work for Warner

cool man, I'll set it at 100% and see if it impacts my everyday usage. I'm feeding some pretty insane volts to this quad, so I'm a little weary about killing it.

I do not work for Warner lol. They made a huge impact on the format war, but the company that I work for will make a bigger, nastier one lol. That's as far as I'm going with that one lol.

This program works a chip hard, if your OC isn't a 100 per cent stable, the client will fail. So it's a pretty good stest of 24/7 stability as well. Just keep an eye on your temps etc... setting the process lower won't really affect your temp much, either run it at 100 or leave it off is generally my thought as there sems to be no real savings in power consumption or temps in setting lower.

And hail to a fellow Canuck , I don't care about formats (at all) DVD is fine with me lol.... tbh, all this DRM crap gets me down and I won't pay what they're asking for the drives or media. They can all kiss my Ugly Butt.

If you use the console you download 2 clients in different directories.
Like F@H 1 and F@H 2 open them up and start folding

Have you checked out the SMP client for multi core processors? There's a pretty good guide here

Well, welcome to the team and tell us a bit about your system and what your up to so we can recommend the best configuration for your needs. We're damn glad to have new members

As to the GPU folding it's all about the x1800 /x1900's right now but Stanford is working on a client for the later series of the ATI cards it should release soon (uhmm not sure when).

    Cheers

Well, my honest advice would be to overclock your rig and get it rock solid stable then you can use the folding client. The client is very tough on a computer and will throw errors if there is any stability. If we can give you a hand with your OC we'd be glad to help, but your best bet is to post in the corresponding Intel section for assistance.
