Hey all, just wondering: How much voltage is needed for a 4Ghz on a G0 Q6600? I have to set it to 1.6v (which I hate doing) for 3dmark06 to get all the way through. I have 4GB of Patriot DDR2 800 ram running at 4-4-4-12, but 5-5-5-15 with the overclocking @ 800Mhz.
Should I adjust the chipset voltage as well? I have a maximus formula se with watercooling on the NB, CPU and 2 3870s, with temps around 20C idle CPU and 29C GPU.

hi there,
im making an intensive searching on the oc capabilities of Q6600 G0 batch L740A and i cant find anything
anyone here with that batch/FPO?
best regards![]()
if its got a VID of 1.2875 then I have the same chip. I can't remember my batch code since my chip is lapped and I threw out the box.
Does 8*400 with 1.35v droops to about 1.29 and is rock solid. 9*400 needs 1.575v in bios and it droops to about 1.49 to pass a 24hour prime blend test.
EDIT: come to think of it I may have a L726A.

Only got 3.4GHz (425*8) 1.300V out of my Q6600 G0 with 120 Ultra Extreme and 2x120mm fan, can also do 3.5GHz with 1.350V but two of the cores get upto 68C.![]()
Havent changed any of the system voltages or PLL yet as I have no idea what to set them too on my P5K premium, just core, memory volts have been changed, are they worth changing from auto?

From Auto, you have for sure to change them. Look at my signature link for a full review and bios details for overclocking the P5K Premium.
Those last chips run hot when you increase the frequency, sadely.
I see you're on phase -60°C, sure nice OC

What happened to this thread and updates?
It was supposed to contain at least some details of stable oc's but so far there are just random one off ss of max MHz mostly with little detail and database updates.
4200MHz seems quite easy on air with cool ambients on G0 IME.
Why don't you have a separate categorical listing containing;
100% P95/OCCT stable (8hrs or more)
Less than 8 hrs stable
Less than 5 hrs stable
Less than 3 hrs stable
Less than 1 hr stable
Less than 30 min stable
2k6 bench stable
Max Valid/Max Screen
It would show things out much better and clearer and is a useful way to categorize IMHO (few things can be different).![]()
First post is not updated since... 7 months![]()
Most results are on the G0 topic.
And I agree, people should post more details. In my case, I always try to put the maximum details of settings in my signature. People should update their signatures often with more details
If you notice it, most these "databases topics" are launched by people that either didn't bought that chip, or by whom just bought it and want to know if they got a good piece and compare it to others. Once they are satisfied, change chip... these types of threads are no longer updated, at least first post. So we have to read through hundreds of pages to find something useful

Yeah, I never start such a thread because it requires responsibility to keep updating and filtering. Now it just turns into another Q6600 "post all results" thread. I have mine 100% 3600 Linpack 32b stable but with Prime it needs much lower voltage and temps are thus much better. Higher MHz I'm not sure, but this is cheap air with a spare cooler I had. Posted about it in the Q6600 G0 thread a few weeks back.![]()

3.66GHz/1.4V Stable
Hey folks, I have an Asus Maximus, a new Q6600 and a Swiftech P180 case with an additional 2x120 radiator.
I'm running my Q6600 @ 3.6GHz with 100% stability, however with my water cooling I'd like to get a good stable 4GHz if possible.
My first question is this: besides core voltage, what other voltages need to be raised to achieve the stable 4GHz of the Q6600 on the Maximus?
Second, what other systems need to be adjusted? (i.e. memory ratio, etc.)
Third, what voltage do I NOT want to go above in order to guarantee no damage to my CPU?
I've read through these forums, and there's a ton of info, but I have yet to see a post that shows not only the Core voltage, but suppot voltage (like PLL) etc for achieving 4GHz+ on Water Cooling.
Thanks!
