still 570, yaik...i think nvidia gave up. and honestly, as long as they think 170F and lousy 100mb throughput in raid0 are just fine for that price, you should too...

This board and a good set of DDR3 4GB is going to cost $1,000, thats about $650 more than a 780i and a good set of DDR2 4GB, do you think 5 frames per second is worth that much more??? the mainstream is still DDR2, DDR3 adopt rate is VERY!!! slow, it has been available for over 9 months and sales and prices are really bad, adoption rate is slower than DDR2 was in 2004.

^Nice post GAR. I still bet you will probably have one of these before I do and I wanted one yesterday.

Posted elsewhere in this forum (i.e., I can't remember where I read it) someone was recently talking about "expected" price drops of DDR3 memory in Q2. I hope this to be the case as current crack-head pricing may be cost prohibitive.

4GB is not necessary i reckon

You can buy some really nice DDR3 sticks for around US$250
there are some nice 2GB kits at the moment in online deals section

mmmm how much will this board or reference nvidia cost ~$300

    that's $550

    asus overcharge for their boards

reference boards are usually best anyways and cost less...
i reckon they'll probably end up being 250-300 like others

    ppl quoting synthetic HDD tests
PLEASE show us how that translate to real world performance

All ROG boards have these LEDs, they kinda clash with the SoundMAX's blue LEDs though.

Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

x48 = high binned x38, its a bit like calling a quad an extreme because it can handle a higher fsb. I very much doubt that 'binning' is done based on anything more than the position of the die on the wafer once a process has matured. FSB testing each die would take too long.

Kinda hate the way its not a single copper pipe running water from VRMs through to the south bridge. C'mon ASUS give us a fully water cooled chipset.

    recycling 570 chips? thats odd...
and they still didnt learn their lesson... why do they put a pciE x1 slot on the top instead of between the pciE 16x slots to give extra space for heatsinks/airflow/pots?

I'll wait for the v1.1 version which is rumored to have an underclocking jumper called CPU_retarded.
Sourcing parts for a mildly over clocked abacus.

OMFG! ASUS finally wised up and quit reversing the top 1x PCI-e slot?!? At least that is what the manual pics show.

I never could understand why they reversed that slot on the Striker Extreme.

Also from the AnandTech photos, it looks like the BIOS chip is no longer replaceable. I hope ASUS' BIOS group doesn't brick the mobos with iffy BIOS updates.
