Have you tried the settings here I outlined earlier? These are working with a QX9650 / Q6600 on an eVGA Board running the P03 Bios (XFX version).

Is the Vista a new install for this board and CPU or a drive change between the X38? As there are issues with Vista with 4GB> on installation, try leaving just one module in, get it updated and then add the other modules back in... had this issue here but now all working ok with the QX

No matter what I try and change them to, they stay at vcore - 1.18 and cpu fsb - 1.08 volts. It will boot to the Vista desktop for a second, then it just shuts itself off completely. I tried the QX9650 in my second rig (DFI X38) and it works just fine, the voltages can be adjusted and I booted into Vista and played a quick round of COD4, all was well.

I can change the dram voltage and the settings stick, it's just those two. I've tried the P02 and P03 bios', cleared cmos, and everything else you can think of, nothing helps. Any thoughts?

Alright... just got my EVGA 780i build up and running. I have a E8400 with a thermalright ultra-120 extreme, 2X2 OCZ reaper DDR 800.

    Here are my settings:

    FSB:1600
    Multi: 9x
memory in sync mode or 1:1
memory timings are 4-4-4-15-1T at 2.2volts. I also adjusted trc from auto to 11
NB i left in auto for now... will adjust next boot when I make some changes.
I left cpu voltage in auto or default... however I have one question to anyone that can answer. I set GTLVREF lane 0-3 to +85mv. Is this right for my cpu? What should I set this too? I read that it is unstable to leave this in auto.

Here is a couple of threads from the EVGA nForce 780i Series Forum on EVGA's site. They don't specifically say what is best for your processor, but it explains exactly what those settings are. They are still trying to figure out the best setting as well. Hope this helps.

This is an exisiting Vista install. It's not an OS problem, but rather an issue I am having inside the bios. No matter what I select for cpu voltage and cpu fsb voltage, they stay at 1.19 and 1.08 volts. Period. Nothing seems to allow me to make the changes stick. This is only on the QX9650. With the Q6600 in there, I can change both of those and the changes stick, no problems. It's just on the 9650. I merely stuck it in the X38 board to see if maybe there was something wrong with the actual cpu itself, something that was not allowing me to change those voltages. But, that was not the case. With it installed on the X38, I could change vcore and the changes stuck, which ruled out the new QX9650. Frankly, I am stumped on this one.

I have an MSI 780i coming in this afternoon, so I will post back if it works with it. If so, it's RMA time.

btw, I did try all of your settings. All of them took with the exception of vcore and cpu fsb voltage.
