    goodman,

    Have you ever tightened up the heatpipe assembly including the NB sink?

    I put some photos up earlier in the thread that show my experience replacing the tim for the whole assembly. The most noticeable thing during that process was that out of the box, the nb sink was pretty loose. Maybe a few turns of the screw could help things. If not, then a fan on the sink is a good solution. For PWMs I added some little mofset sinks to the CPLs which dropped my pwm tempe 3 or 4c.

    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...postcount=3204

    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...postcount=3397

    FWIW, I tried every combination of copper plate, transpiper etc. and this worked best for me. I also have a stacker with 7 fans going. I think the most effective approach is simple, make sure everything is secure and blow air on it.

    I did something similar to this on my first P35 board (and I loved the board too)... the Gigabyte P35C-DS3R. I stupidly killed the board doing something else, but the 1st day I got it I took all the cooling apart and did very similar to what you did.

    When I got the DFI T2R, I was in such a rush that I overnighted it and wanted to get my system going right away... look at me now paying the price for rushing the project.

    I will research your pictures hopefully this week when my e8400 arrives and I guess I'll maneuver the cooling with what I have. I've never EVER had heat issues until the DFI T2R. I would have probably been better off with the non-transpiper version, but I'd no idea what a transpiper was or even that it iexisted until I opened up my retail box!!

    Thx in advance, bud... hopefully I can take care of my issue soon.

    *EDIT*
    P.S. It's godman, not goodman.

    Hey guys,

    I got the board (UT) since monday and I'm having a problem.
    The board came with the 11/07 bios and now, I wanted to flash to the 12/24 bios.

    Got a bootable USB stick with the Diamon Flash Image bios on it (dl from the DFI site).
    So I restarted the system, pressed ESC and choosed the USB stick to boot.
    The Award flash tool starts and then, I get this message :

    Code:
    The Program File's BIOS-Lock String does not match with your system
    I tried the beta 01/09 bios but got the same result.

    I've never had any problems flashing a bios on any board (flashed the DK about 2 weeks ago with no problems), so I'm kinda lost what might be wrong.

    The AWDFLASH.EXE file is dated 06/19/07, which seems the correct one.

    Here's how the Autoexec.bat file looks like:

    Code:
    @echo off
    cls
    @ECHO OFF
    C:\AWDFLASH LP35DC24.BIN /cks/sn/py/cc/cd/cp/ld/qi/WB/E

    @ECHO OFF
    Anyone who has ever experienced this and has a solution?

    .
    If you have a fast connection speed just use this T-mod bios CD. It kick ass and very easy to use. Very usefull if you want to try a lot of different bios.

    The Type 2 is the one you need. The thermal tape can't be used as shipped. The SMD caps sit higher then the PWM slave chips. The thermal tape needs to be trimmed so that it doesn't cover the caps. Then the tape will also act as a spacer so that the heatsink clears the caps.

    I tried it but it's a no go.
    I think something's wrong with the bios chip.
    I'm getting a replacement chip, which should resolve the problem.

    I noticed there's a new beta bios for the UT, dated 02/14/08, so today.

    there always seems to be things changed in these releases that aren't even mentioned in the change log. Hopefully the overlapping text bug is fixed too.

    Anyone have any issues flashing FROM the 1/09 beta with USB drive?? Had no problem flashing with USB from the bios the board shipped with to 12/24 and from 12/24 to 1/09, but for some reason its not even recognizing the USB drive at boot

    If you have any suggestions let me know, otherwise Ill just wait till they add the new 2/14 beta to the Tmod\Logan CD..............BTW thanks to whoever originally posted that, so awesome!
