its not surprising the UT is higher up and the DK is lower and since the UT and LT are electrically identical (this a worse HS) they need a reason to make the UT $100 more than the DK and $80 more than LT

and the DK is $20 less so that makes that product have no purpose at all

Eva, how on Earth did you get your Mems to read 5-6 Performance Level with the AUTO settings in the BIOS?

If I switch mine Ballistix to auto at that speed (above 600Mhz) they will read 8-9.

Depends on bios and divider used as well as main memory timings used as to what AUTO will set

    Thats amazing!
Im still working on mine with the 400/1066 divider.

Another thing that really jumps into the eyes is how low are your fine delay values!

Question Considering swap to new DFI X38 motherboard because of dual HD3870X2 cards

I am still able to find a DFI Lanparty LT X38-T2R motherboard locally, and am basically ready to grab it. My only concern is that the new X48 series motherboards are soon going to arrive. Is there any good reason to wait for an X48 vs buying a DFI X38 motherboard?

Keep in mind that I am running DDR2 memory, and my primary reason for moving from a DFI P35 series motherboard is the availability of dual PCI-E 16x
    graphics card slots.

Also, I am currently running my Q6600 G0 processor at 3870 MHz (9 x 430 MHz FSB) with 1.3875 vCore in BIOS. Will I be able to maintain similar overclocks with the X38 series motherboard?

unless you got a cpu that can do 600fsb i doubt if x48 will be that much better
one thing is sure the x48 will cost more lol

from looking at the maximus to rampage i dont think that the dfi board will change at all, teh maxims has a basic enthusiast bios and garbage thermal adhesive, the rampage has the options of the dfi without the 3rd lvl ram options in the bios designed for ocing its just for different people and oc grade stuff is always more in the main stream and slightly better paste so its 5c cooler

    Thumbs down

I am having a bad day...

I decided to run orthos on my rig and it fails miserably. Like within 20 seconds. I think I need some n00b help. All I want is a stable 3.6 ghz out of my q6600. I am pretty damn sure that my cooling system has the capacity to cool it easily. Can someone help me with settings? I really want to run the system with all 8 Gb of ram in it. Does anyone out there have a similar setup? Your help will be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

Also, for water cooling, I think my temps are high. At stock speeds and voltages, my two hottest cores hit 51C running orthos. Should I re-seat? I feel like I can't trust anything I have done thus far.

This is too simple. The maximus is a great board. it overclocks well, and has very good performance even without all of the memory options.

I have both, the maximus oc's just as well with less tinkering. The dfi, also a great board, has a lot of options that don't really improve performance that much at all, but rather can cause major instabilities.

I love both boards, but they both oc about the same, perform about the same. I don't see any clear winner. I will however, give the maximus the advantage in that it doesn't boot to a black screen on occasion (warm boot) requiring cold boots like the dfi does.

The Maximus is a good board. But to unequivocally say it overclocks as well as the DFI X38 is a bit misleading. For most users this statement is most likely true. But for the minority that understand the settings of the DFI BIOS and are willing to spend the time using them, processor and memory will normally be able to be pushed further then on any other board.

If this ability makes the board a better choice would be dictated by the individual user. And I would agree that for most users the differences between the two boards are most likely not measurable. There are probably few users that truly understand the capabilities of GTL tuning and Clock Crossing settings the DFI BIOS provides.

Well, I have more or less gone back to standard clocks, but I will post What I had. It would get through wPrime 1024 without a complaint, but fails Orthos in seconds. I will post the template ASAP.

Haven't gotten one of those messages on this board, but have gotten them before. Usually when I OC'd the system beyond its capability. Turning off the maching for a while usually cured it, but I had to reload cmos, including the dates.

Yes I got it after experimenting some other memory ratios. Probably that caused it. But when I turned back on and went to Bios all settings where the same.

That was good. Irrc mine was on one of the first Asus 939 mb and it would totally scramble the bios. I was probably lucky I didn't bork the bios, but I kept pushing it anyway, lol.

Jezus man you got money burning a hole in your pocket or something? Looks like you are doing just fine and i wouldn't expect a much better clock with the X38 then what you are running now. Take the money you would use to buy the new motherboard and get yerself a better video card if you are looking for a significant performance boost.
