    Bios and Uguru says 1.32v

before using abit i have asus commando. @ 3.5ghz 1.52v temps are 42-44 celcius but now cpuz says 1.55v but temps 36-34 celcius.. wich one should i believe ?

Hey Spyrus I have the G-skill 2x2GB PC 8000. Currently I'm running 9*450 with 1:1 divider. Just tell me what settings I should use and I'll test em out, divider 1:1.20? And DDR2 voltage 2.1-2.2? Anything else I should change? Oh and what shall I test with, Orthos blend good enough?

I didn't have my system stable at FSB500 after all even with MCH up at 1.46. Don't know what the problem is. Currently these voltages with 9*450:

    E8400
    9*450

    CPU VID 1.3375
    CPU VTT 1.25
    MCH 1.30
    ICH 1.11
    DDR2 2.100

Atrin: I have the same problem and I'm relying on U-guru, seems to be a feature now that you mention it too.

For same clocks but with 2x1GB on Abit IP35 Pro i needed 1.41MCH.
Start from there. Yes choose the 1.2 divider. Start at 9x400@500MHz memory
and work up to 9x450 with little increments. Set voltages with uguru and raise fsb 5 at a time while running orthos-blend.

Yes as I posted earlier I have the same problem and I'm relying on U-guru.

Spyrus I tried 9*450 with 1:1.2 divider and it was a no go, couldn't get into windows, gave bad checksum etc... I used these settings:

    CPU VID 1.3375
    CPU VTT 1.27
    MCH 1.45
    ICH 1.12
    DDR2 2.300

I have told you not to boot right away but test with small increments for your own safety.
    What is you tRFC value?
Can you give me a full detail of your memory timings?
Or post a memset screen at 450@1:1 that you are running now.

Read this post in order to climb to 530+
    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=163668
    Set relax timings for start:
    5-5-5-20-55-8-4-4-4 should be ok
Test with memtest 86+ test 5 every time you boot on higher fsb.

I have them just at AUTO at the moment. I'll try with the timings you gave me, don't have bootable memtest so I'll use the orthos blend.

Edit: Well I set the timings in bios and booted to windows with 9*430. Orthos Large FFTs ran for about an minute and then stopped with:

    9*430

    CPU VID 1.3375
    CPU VTT 1.25
    MCH 1.42
    ICH 1.10
    DDR2 2.200

Memset showed that the timings were indeed changed. Seems like these sticks aren't that good with this board?

Edit2:Tried some more now and 9*420 memory being at 504 ran orthos large FFTs successfully for an hour with settings:

    CPU VID 1.3375
    CPU VTT 1.25
    MCH 1.30
    ICH 1.10
    DDR2 2.100
    Timings on AUTO

But when i popped FSB up to 430 orthos couldnt run for even a minute.

I hope you have the latest bios.
Also set command rate to 2T.
Put 1.5 to mch just to be sure.
Could you post memset at 9x430?

Just installed one qx9650 instead of my E8500. Just for some testing ofc
Running final 12 bios and the problem is that org multi is 9, when i try to put it on 10 or 11 it wont boot. When i enter bios after failed boot the multi is on 11.5 for example. Which bios do u recommend for quads? Where can i find all betas??

I have the latest bios, bios id 12. The command rate has also been at 2T the whole time. I doubt that setting MCH to 1.50 will change anything since I allready had it up to 1.45 and the system has been 100% stable with atleast 467FSB 1:1 divider. When I tried 9*430 I tried it with AUTO setting and also with your posted timings aswell. I'm sorry but I'm done tweaking for now, I tried if those sticks would work at 900mhz 1T and the next time my machine booted I saw "Bios checksum error" on the screen . Luckily when i restarted it started working again. Got a little scared there that I ed bios up and would have to change it.

Maybe you should take some other sticks if you want to use the 1:1.2 divider, cause unless I have missed something these pretty much only work at stock speeds.

try 12.b02..i think it will allow the multi to be raised above 9x and saved properly.

True? As I have been waiting for this board to support the QX and just went and got an X38 board but of another A flavour... if the QX is now a worker, then that other board will be going back.

it worked for me...i only have 12.b02 and 12.b03...i remember back then that the multi was locked to 9x and below with 12.b03...12.b02 made it unlocked....i don't have the board any longer since i shorted out one of the PWM digital chips.

EDIT:...found my post confirming 12.b02 works good with the 9650: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&postcount=389

Cheers .. that was sometime back... I must have missed that one... seems that it still needed improvements but the newer ones has messed up the multi again...

B.02 doesn´t work to well for me. Huge problems with multi even with B.02.
Seems a bit hard to boot in to windows over 400x10. And another multi over 10 doesn´t windows want to load fully. Any clues ?

ΟΚ thx for trying but keep in mind that running with divider needs extra mch voltage.
On Abit IP35 Pro i could be stable at 500fsb with 1:1 1.41v mch
    With divider 1.2 and 450fsb i needed again 1.41Vmch
    With 1:1 and 450 fsb 1.37 mch.

Can someone confirm a jump from IP35 Pro to this mobo and have previously not gone as high as 550 (on any strap/divider) with memory but here can play at 600+MHz?

I just wanted to mention to anyone considering to buy an Abit Board...

and my suggestion, for the time being, is to avoid Abit completely for the next year or so. They have absolutely the worst RMA process. I've tried to rma an ix38 board back on Feb 1st, and they still have yet to get back to me about it. Check out their eRMA forum on the official site. Everybody is having issues with them. Just everybody. No one has had a smooth RMA with ABIT in the past few months.

    http://forum.uabit.com/forumdisplay.php?f=15

I'm not complaining about the quality of their boards, but trying to deal with this company is just awful. And, the office is in California.

if you look back at my post, when i had the board, it worked well for me and my first 9650...that chip was a good overclocker, not like the replacement 9650 i have now...so...it could be that you do not have a good overclocking chip.

and my suggestion, for the time being, is to avoid Abit completely for the next year or so.

I'm not complaining about the quality of their boards, but trying to deal with this company is just awful. And, the office is in California.
if you are in the USA, i would abandon the web form and just call them for an RMA....if that fails, write them a certified letter.
