    spec and loop check please

hi all am looking at doing my first watercooling rig in my lian li v2000 and would like some help and thoughts, as for the kit i have decided on the items below, now if am right (and i might not be) thats everything but the tubing which am going to go for Masterkleer 7/16ths after a clan friend used some on his rig, the coolant i was going to use PrimoChill ICE Non-Conductive Coolant but if any one can recomend something else

i was thinking of have my setup like below

i might change the position of the res so its attached to the cd drive section if that might work with the brackets supplied

res>pump>cpu>rad not sure if this is ok as its my first attempt at it, i also plan of removing the psu bracket at the bottom of the case so the rad can sit on the floor properly

    all help is greatful thanks

Those are the best parts you can get for the money.
Change the Loop order to Pump >> Rad >> CPU >> Res, it will give you a bit lower temps.

    Masterchief,
You could choose some less expensive pump, like a DDC with Pro top. IMO it will perform pretty close the same as MCP655, but will save you a penny.

All the rest looks fine. PA120.2 will do fine with an OC'ed Q6600.

I would suggest you the Res->Pump->Rad->CPU-> loop order. It will let you use less tubing and probably will perform slightly better.

thanks for the fast reply i knew i didnt have the loop order right so thanks for that, i pretty much looked of these forums and checked and double checked the items i would like so its down to these fine forums for that

edit: i had been looking at the ddc pumps but i didnt like the amount of failures on them so i decided with the mcp655 and tbh cost of the ddc+top is just a bit more than the 655 ( thats in the uk, we get ripped off with everything

the newer revision of the ddc (3.1 or 3.2) have less or next to none yet in pump failure department cause of new revision to its startup circuit board...

it may not be as powerfull as the -1 or -2 series, but should more than make up for it in reliability...

Totally agree with septim, the DDC reliability thing isn't a factor.
Note you want the Vario version of the D5 not the B version and that its a much bigger foot print to find a possie for than a DDC.

supposedly they have all been replaced...

simple answer is to email your seller... they'll have to be honest enough not to tarnish their rep...

Watch NaeKuh run here and make a opposite claim From a source, the RMA rate is still 20% but lots of questions isn't answered yet still so take this with a grain of salt. If it was really 20% as he claimed, I would have seen a lot of dead DDC 3.2 threads here...

id stick with the D5, and as for coolant as in the OP. just use Distiled Water which you can find at any grocery store and some sort of biocide. since you are not mixing metals you don't have to worry about corrosion. as for a color,if you want it, feser one is the best IMO.

I would also like to chime in on the side of a D5. First off, a DDC 3.2 will end up costing you more than the D5 once you get a high quality aftermarket top (at Petras $100 vs $83). Second, the D5 is whisper quiet. I con't comment on the DDC 3.1, but I can say that its predecessor the DDC 2 was not a pump I would describe as quiet. All things considered I hold view the D5 like the Smith & Wesson shotgun of pumps. It certainly isn't the prettiest or the smallest, but it gets the job done and it wont fuss over a the little things as long as it is gravity fed.

cheers guys going to stick with the d5, meatpuppet by gravity fed do you mean by having the res above the pump so the water is helping it out

can you move the drives up front inside the 5 1/4 bays.

    and stepup to a PA120.3?

that way you'll know you cant go up much more from that standpoint. :T

Precisely, as you are probably aware the D5 pumps are not made to self-prime or suck in water, only push it out. As such you have to have gravity do the work of getting the water to the pump.

This seems to be what the cool kids do. Also, a personal taste thing, I like to have my HDDs "above the waterline" as it were so that if the unforseen occurs you wont have liquid dripping down on the HDD.

10ft if you are getting something expensive like Tygon. If you are down with the awesomeness of 7/16" masterkleer I would get a lot (at least 15 ft). It is never a bid idea to have extra tubing around.
