The new batch should ship to Petra's by the end of this week depending on how fast the anodizing is completed.

Man, I can't wait for the next shipment, and I'm curious to see the black anodized version. Is the thermal conductivity altered at all by the anodized vs bare blasted aluminum?

Well the surface of the bead-blasted version is supposed to create more air turbulence around the heatsink which supposedly would make it cooler, but I doubt anyone would actually notice a difference.

Ya, I realized that much, I was just wondering if anodized aluminum conducted heat differently than just standard aluminum. Like if the anodizing changes the efficiency of heat transfer or anything. I'm guessing it's negligible, but just curious

I doubt it would make any measurable difference, not like your running water over the top of them. On the downside the mounting surface is bead blasted on the first version as well, which would probably make more impact than the top. It's still pretty smooth though. Godd nuff.

Are you sure the mounting surface is bead blasted as well? That sounds odd. Well, I'm no stranger to lapping heatsinks so that wouldn't present any problem for me.

The finish is the same on both sides.

I would take a pic of the ones I recently took off, but I haven't cleaned them up yet.

Just realize the Base isn't flat, the base it cut so that it mounts perfectly to the different height chips. I doubt the bead blasted surface makes must difference as far as cooling ram and mosfets. I mean look how thick the thermal pads are that come with these cards!

I know. That's one of the reasons I jumped at a set of iandh's sinks as soon as I had confirmation that my 8800GT was being shipped. I absolutely cannot believe those thick ram thermal pads actually do much in the way of heat transfer. Metal to metal with a thin spread of thermal paste between them is the ONLY way to go.

How are you guys getting a vf900 on these cards? I just looked at Zalmans website, and it lists all 8800's as incompatible with this cooler????
They say the definition of madness is doing the same thing and expecting a different result.

I used to have a vf700 on mine and it worked perfect (besides the stupid chipset location on my tforce 550se). I'm not sure what the deal is with Zalman's site because I've seen quite a few GT's with vf900's.

BTW the sinks should be done today or monday. They are currently in the anodizing process.

the 8800GT and GTS (g92) use basically the same mounting holes as the 7950GT I think, so more after market coolers are compatible, zalman is probably just referring to the GTX and the older GTS models.

The sinks are in the final finishing process, we are at the mercy of the plating shop now. In my experience they try very hard to keep a 2-3 day turnaround, and they've already had them for two days. I am hoping to ship to Petra's on monday or tuesday, and they should have them a day or two after that. They also should be in stock at Sidewinder by Friday.

For those in the UK, I will be shipping to Tom at ChilledPC via Global Express mail (2-3 delivery) so he should also have them in hand for shipment by the end of next week.

Justed wanted to throw out a heads up.

I had to rma my XFX 8800gt Alpha Dog Edition Card.

Just got it back today and the entire board layout has been revised.

Heres some pictures of the biggest changes.

    Voltage Regulator Area

Area Around the core. And yes, the card came with the thermal paste like that O_o

Backside of the card near the power connector. Seems to be where they relocated nearly all the voltage regulating components.

Just wanted to throw that out there and let you guys know that newer revisions of the 8800gt's will not be compatible with at least part of iandh's sink kit.

Heres a picture of my original card for reference
