Lol you can't run a quad core with 468 FSB with settings on auto... you'll need a minimum of 1,65V on the NB and most likely 1,45-1,50V vFSB and 1,6V PLL
    Main system:
    Q6600 G0 L737B 3,8GHz
    Maximus Formula X38
    Ballistix PC2-8500 2x1GB
    XFX 8800GT XT

Also, you'll need to use Transaction booster Disabled (0) at minimum to reduce the stress on your mobo

I was able to run 468 x 9 with a older BIOS. Now I'm only able to run 445 x 9, this is Prime95 stable for 5 minutes...

In the BIOS I set everything on AUTO except the Vcore.
With these settings Prime95 is only stable for 8 hours and more on 425 x 9...
When I try 468 x 9 it freezes just before I go into Vista.

Surely a problem with the voltage somewhere. But I don't know all these settings because I come frome a P35-DQ6...

Now I tried to find the max stable FSB with all voltages set to AUTO and this was 470 x 7, when I try 475 x 7 it fails within 5 min at Prime95.

So normally I should be able to get 470 x 9 with everything on AUTO BUT (!) it doesn't like I explained earlier...

Some help is much appreciated !!!

(Somebody now a program wich can read PLL/NB/SB voltage in windows ?)

First tip never use AUTO as the board overvolts, but as u dont know these settings u cant help it
High fsb works the best on this board with 333 strap, disable transaction booster( relax level :0 , u might need to relax to :1, if u do, u need less volts on the NB as to go on a lower performance level, and volts on the NB is less demanding/ and dram static read control but u can use clock twister set on strong to maintain some performance boost on mem. Try this: 1.55-1.60v) FSbv: 1.40- 1.45 / CPU/NB GTL: 0.63x/0.67x accordingly. CPU PLL: 1.50( it already overvolts to 1.61v, and beyond that I never find any improvements.
If u use 4 Dimms or many drives, u might need to bump a notch on the SB: 1.075 should be good. Try this out and let me know if it worked out, Good luck

    I did get 470 x 7 with all AUTO except Vcore .
But I'm going to try what you said !
    This is for 470 x 9 right ?

    Indeed, as I don't know the settings I can't help it .
So you say for 470 x 9 use this:

    FSB on 1.45
    CPU/NB on 0.63/0.67
    PLL on 1.50
    SB on 1.075
And what with the 1.55-160 ?

Best moeilijk hoor als je van Gigabyte P35 bordje naar Asus X38 gaat... Na zoveel jaar pas mijn eerste Asus bordje .

Hey m8, Asus is very easy going when it comes to BIOS setting unlike DFI, but maybe because I always had Asus board

    FSB: 1.45
    CPU/ NB GTL 0.63x / 0.67x
    SB: 1.075
NB voltage: 1.55- 1.60, this really differs from board to board, but like I mentioned when u lower Performance level, u need less volts on the NB, going on a lower performance level u can do this by Disable Transaction booster and relaxing levels from 0 -6 or 8, not sure on that
Transaction Booster: Disable, relax level: 0 ( if it doesnt play well relax to:1 )

This board suffers from divider issues, , hope they can fix this with upcomming BIOS releases

You talk with "Mich" and "Dich" or what?

Some people say there isn't enough difference between German and Dutch to speak of a different language. I disagree however, never did very well in German classes although my pronounciation is excellent.

I never had dutch but I can recognize a few words because they are very similar sometimes.
But I never will understand a whole dutch sentence, only if I am very lucky and all words sound like similar german ones, it`s a complete different laguage for me.
But the "Holländer" are quiet good in speaking german, that`s awesome. Never met one who couldn`t speak german a bit

And to say it once again: please excuse me for my english
german is the only language I really can speak and write in good. My english is horrible but I think most guys understand me.
And my french, don`t ask about 4 years french in school but I couldn`t order a simple pizza

    But back to topic

Has anybody a good explanation for "CPU TM Function"? Sb wrote something with "ThrottleManagement" but he wasn`t sure.

Yes 'ich' talk like 'det' .

Alhoewel mijn dialect niet makkelijk is voor te typen !

Anyway, I tried the settings you guys gave me and this are the results :

    Code:
    9 x 468

    Strap : 400 Mhz
    PCI-e : 105 Mhz
    RAM : 936 Mhz
    Command Rate : 2T
    Timings : 5-5-5-15
    AI Clock : AUTO
    Transaction Booster : Disabled (0)
    PLL : 1.60
    FSB : 1.50
    RAM : 2.20
    NB : 1.65
    SB : 1.1
    GTL CPU : 0.63x
    GTL NB : 0.67x
    SB 1.5V : AUTO
It did boot till the loading bar from Vista then BSOD...
Then I changed the PL (tRD).

    Transaction Booster : Disabled (1)
Before the loading bar system restarted.

    Transaction Booster : Disabled (2)
Before the loading bar system restarted.

    Transaction Booster : Disabled (3)
Before the loading bar system restarted.

    Then I tried this :

    Code:
    9 x 468

    Strap : 333 Mhz
    PCI-e : 105 Mhz
    RAM : 936 Mhz
    Command Rate : 2T
    Timings : 5-5-5-15
    AI Clock : AUTO
    Transaction Booster : Disabled (0)
    PLL : 1.60
    FSB : 1.50
    RAM : 2.20
    NB : 1.65
    SB : 1.1
    GTL CPU : 0.63x
    GTL NB : 0.67x
    SB 1.5V : AUTO
The system did go off to set the new settings, then it started and I got a "Bad BIOS Checksum error" ......

Did have to put the DVD in and he loaded automatically the first BIOS (0107) and I was back up & running...

VERY strange thing, so I think it doesn't work .

A very very bad oveclock usually produces that. I would be very careful doing that.

Yes but the strange thing is, I only get it when I set the strap to 333Mhz, when I only that (and yes only that) option change to 400mhz he boot's till the loading bar. When I only change the strap from 400 to 333 and all the other settings the same I get the bad checksum error...

Strange thing is, when that happend, I did hit the reset button, and everything was back to normal ... Still had the same BIOS and same settings... .

    Asus I demand a new BIOS .

unfortunately I don't think it is a bad bios from Asus (although a Rampage-like Bios would be nice) and it looks like you don't totally get how to manage timings on this board.

This board is not very forgiving. You need to set everything exactly right (not auto) and it will perform like a champ. Things (voltages) not set right will fry you parts. Be careful.

So I ended up checking my NB and three of the screws were loose. Tightened them up nice and snug and now I idle @ 39C and full load about 43C. I would suggest everyone to check and make sure that the screws are tight.

But I'm still with the problem, that I could do 468 x 9 and no it wont work anymore...

And I have no idea what for voltages to use for what, and why GTL means for...
I'm for the first time on a quadcore, not to mention the first time on a Asus motherboard...

He will run 445 x 9 on AUTO, but only for 5 min Prime95 stable, IF I could read the valeu's of every part IN Windows on that speed I would know what to change...

So, anybody know a program to read out PLL/NB/SB voltages etc.......

Everest/HWMonitor/PC Wizard 2008 dont give me anything .
And still I will not own everyone[/FONT]

P5E doesn't have that sensors, so u can't read them...

But the "Holländer" are quiet good in speaking german, that`s awesome. Never met one who couldn`t speak german a bit
I picked up an old German geezer who was hitchhiking on the side of the road a few years ago. I took up my best German but after a few minutes he told me to speak Dutch as he'd understand me better, or so he said
And I as non native English speaker can understand your written English pretty good but of course I have no idea wheather I'd understand your spoken English.

It did boot till the loading bar from Vista then BSOD...
Then I changed the PL (tRD).

    Transaction Booster : Disabled (1)
Before the loading bar system restarted.

    Transaction Booster : Disabled (3)

    Strap : 333 Mhz
    PCI-e : 105 Mhz
    RAM : 936 Mhz

    SB 1.5V : AUTO
The system did go off to set the new settings, then it started and I got a "Bad BIOS Checksum error" ......

Did have to put the DVD in and he loaded automatically the first BIOS (0107) and I was back up & running...

VERY strange thing, so I think it doesn't work .
This might be caused by attempting to write to the BIOS with unstable settings. You should avoid doing that and I'd know, I used to do beta testing for Merlin. Older boards would have knocked out your bios chip. If you're uncertain of stability, which occurs rather often, you should perhaps first revert to factory settings and save your current OC in a profile.
And don't use profiles when you updated or downgraded your bios version. It doesn't work very well either.

Does anyone have an idea where to find a spare bios chip? Or is our bios chip not socketed?
Those chips are pretty mandatory when using modded bios binaries.
