Thank you ACE. It cost 8 euro for shipping. I think I had a bad motherboard from the start anyway before I even started to OC I got a buzzing sound from it when I started doing anything that would stress the CPU. That was at all stock settings.

I dont know if I will keep the replacement motherboard yet. But if I do I wont power it up without that 4 pin aux plugged in just incase I lose the Ethernet connections again. It might or might not help with Overclocking ut ill be happy with 3,5ghz on a quad core.

Steve, I hope your new motherboard works out better then the troubles you've had with this one. I've powered mine on by accident once without the 12V cpu plug in but all it did was spin the fans up and stall out.
I'm not using either of the onboard NICs either though, I'm using an Intel Pro/1000 pci-e card. I had enough of onboard NICs and their issues a year or two ago.
I got a new E8400 yesterday and this is much happier then the last one, will complete orthos testing with 1.29v VS the 1.44v needed by the old chip.

CPU is stable at 3.6 @ 9x400 with Prime95 small FFT temperatures under 70C. For the FSB test, I'm trying multipliers of 7 and 6 to keep the overclock below 3.6 GHz. The memory has been tested stable at DDR2 1080, and I'm using a 1:1 ratio so the memory overclock doesn't come into play. I've tried BIOS versions 16 beta 3, beta 4, and now beta 9.

- How hot is too hot for the PWM temp?
- And how would one go about getting a NB temp reading?
I've been testing and overclocking my Server Rig (see sig) recently, and I'ce already Bolt Modded it, but I haven't added fans yet, and I am trying to get a grasp of what is too hot of a temp for the PWM?
I am currently at 3.3ghz 370x9, and I am getting a reading of PWM=54°c from CPUID HWMonitor, should I be concerned with that? Is it time to strap a fan on the PWM HS?
Also what app can I use to get a temp reading from the NB?

Sorry to hear ya gota RMA your board steve30x.
Is everyone else using the 4 pin aux plugg?
Two things that I noticed on my system with the beta 9 bios. (Aside from what's been pointed out.) My VID from core temp is now 1.1125v when before it was 1.0375v. It also seems to do a better job reading the SPD settings on auto. My tRAS setting before while on auto was 13 at 450mhz. Now it's 16 which seems to be more inline with the frequency scale. Haven't really seen a difference in overclockability, but the voltage readings is mucho better.

The vid on my Q6600 was 2.35 (or was it 1.35) as far as I can rember. I may be wrong but thats a bit too high to get a good OC.

I currently have a rev. 1.0 board on the PC that I'm currently using, and planning on another build with a new rev 1.1 board in another case. I would like to put a new E8400 processor into the system that I will start using, and pass the system with the E6750 CPU to my wife.![]()
Would there be any advantage (or not) to pairing the E8400 processor with the newer or the older MB? I'm probably going to open up my case as well to swap some memory, etc, so the effort in moving things between systems isn't a concern
