Fantastic, thanks a bunch. Now all I have to do is figure out the rest of the board.

    Hey folks,

I'm looking for a new mobo because my Abit IX38 couldn't cope with my Q6600's excessive power need
Will I run into any trouble with this DFI and a 4Ghz+ overclock? Will be using a SS unit and plan on running folding 24/7 so I need a sturdy mobo that won't go down easily.
What about coldbug/readout of negative temps anyway?

    cheers

this board is suppose to have 8 phase digital power...i have it in the closet at the moment...it's a good board but it requires you to work at the memory section settings to really maximize your memory performance.

i ran a Q6600 at 3.9+ ghz without any problem under air...if you were to prime 95 then it is going to be around 3.6-3.7 for air.

You have it lying around Ace, when it's supposed to be the best board there is atm? Dunno how you can favor the IP35... been using one since my last IX38 died and it really sucks with Quad FSB AND 4x1G memspeed...

i am using only 2 sticks times 2gb on the IP35 Pro, which makes it much easier to overclock.

the other thing...i am not all about getting max system memory speed...my main theme is to get max overclock (under air) from the cpu...these days with larger L2 caches, it is not as important to max out the memory bandwidth from the system memory.

Ok, you've got the free mult - but without that overclocking is really a pain with the missing VTT option

which VTT are you referring to?...i have DDR VTT (% to set) and CPU VTT (voltage steps) on the IP35 Pro board, plus a percentage setting for CPU GTLREF.

I was referring to CPU VTT, which is present all right, but totally useless, since you can only choose between 1,20 and 1,23V VTT - at least on my IP35 Pro...

you are partially correct...BUT...once you raise the MCH above 1.37v, you get a higher selection of cpu vtt to select; up to 1.42v for CPU VTT...works good for me even with my limited 9650...i was able to boot into windows at 485 FSB, which is the max for my Pro board...it was the same for my Q6600 'G0".

EDIT:...sorry for talking about this stuff in this thread...i am stopping

i see some of you guys have the Areca cards working ok on this board

anybody tried a Perc 5/i? i'm thinking it will work seeing how in general DFI pci-e slots are not just for gfx cards like most enthausiast boards but would be nice to see confirmation from someone.

I'm running my Q6600 @ 4050Mhz (450fsb) with no sweat. Everything is running fine and 3d gaming seams a blast. Tried Crysis with it in High Res and it does pretty good.

If you search some pages back you'll see some screenies of my Q6600.

Thanks for the info, I already found several other people running their CPU that high on the DFI. Would have bought one by now but my distributor is out of stock
Is it true that you don't have any vdroop at all? Would be interesting to know especially with your setup

Should I be leaving my CPU VID on auto and only up the CPU VVT? I cant get my Q6600GO past 3.6ghz even with CPU VVT at 1.57

similar my E8500 Q740A493T on Asus Blitz Formula around 530-535FSB max 32M stable, on DFI X38 LT 12/28 beta bios around 520FSB when i hit a wall in memtest86+ v1.70 freezing on me - enabling GTL ref volts and tweaking clock fine delay values and setting 99/99/99 helped stabalize it at 520FSB but 525FSB is where it hits another wall..

stock SB/CPU PLL/PCI-E volts used and CPU VT 1.438 and NB 1.664v.

    more tests later

Excellent job as usual Eva. I'm using the DFI X38, e8400, and the Ballistix 8500. I was wondering if I could get your bios settings you used for memory. If you could it would really help me in trying to figure things out.

Well after a 4 year hiatus from Intel, I probably should have pick a easier board, but I thought it would be more fun and it seemed to be the best X38 mb. At first I could barely get a frustrating 3.8G and that wasn't stable. After some trial and error and the info from this thread, I was able to get it running a little better and like the board a lot more. I ran Orthos for 2 hrs before I got bored.

One thing that's strange though. When I started my VID was 1.0000v, now its 1.1125V. I think it changed when I flashed to the 1/11 bios.
