I just put together a Q6600 @ 3.6ghz for folding, so right now I have 2 quads on f@h. I'm using linux for the new one, and I'm learning how it works. Definitely crunches wu's faster than windows. Once I get it set up how I want I'll switch my main rig back to WCG. But for now the 2 quads put out some good numbers.

Well OK scoop you're gonna have your way. I bought an X2 4200+ with a busted pin to fix and drop in fold6 for the SMP client but after putting new pins on it the CPU is still dead as a doornail

The prices listed by Intel are /1000. So you'll need to find 1000buyers if you feel up to it. I think it is still $266.000/1.000 for a Q6600 at the moment.

1000? Forget that lol. I can get a Q6600 G0 from newegg for $260. Well, can't afford it though but it is there anyway.

It could allready be lower, I can't find any recent prices. At launch mid 2007 it was $266 for a batch of 1000cpu's.
For a batch of OEM's it's probably also lower. Who hasn't a box of spare 775 coolers at home?

I might give you a A64 3500+ (or something like, I've had it lying somewhere few months), but no idea if it's in shape.
