No chip/board/memory limits. Your GPU must be 8400GS, thats the only limit.

Of course! You have a month to bench

    - Palit has Qimonda memory, it looks to be the worst choice.
ASUS is most expensive of those.
    i would say.......crisp power....

hmm I've playd a bit with my Gigabyte, and it was able to run 01 at 650c/1300s/470m without any mods, stock cooled...
the gpu seems very nice, but the mem's are weak, i think i will buy a Zotac 8400gs tomorrow to try and compare it... btw it looks very nice

I think you need an upgrade then. I scraped that chewing gum off and applied this..

Thats bad news i cant afford another card with different mems right now, all spare money goes to Cebit trip.

Gigabyte's thermal goo is the worst I have ever seen. Not only it does nothing, it wont come off!

What would you say is a safe voltage for the GDDR2 on these chips with plenty of airflow over the chips? I've tried the stock 2.05, 2.1, 2.2. Not sure if I can safely push 2.3-2.5v, I've got the Samsung ICs and they clock like garbage, 832MHz is barely stable but I think my PWM needs beefing up as it's stable with the core under 700MHz.

Hynix mem has 1.8 stock, but in datasheet I have found info of 2.3V speed bin. I guess you could search Samsung datasheet.

the chewing gum stuff comes off with varsol... it's that simple. Clean it with alcohol to remove the mineral spirits afterwards.

Someone with mods for the Asus-version? I tried to read the codes on the different chips, but it's to damn small. Guess I've to take some pics in high res and zoom in. If I just can get my damn battery charger back.

For those of you that purchased the EVGA half-height 8400GS, here are some resistance/voltage information. This was all done with the pencil mods, resistance/voltage was measured with my Fluke while the card was loaded.
    Voltage Resistance
    1.25v default 1.55k ohm
    1.37v 1.409k ohm
    1.48v 1.307k ohm
    1.565v 1.247k ohm
    1.74v 1.146k ohm

    Memory
    Voltage Resistance
    2.035v default 806 ohm
    2.093v 781 ohm
    2.201v 744 ohm
    2.289v 721 ohm

I'm done testing for the night, got it up to 891/1782/864 with 1.74vcore and 2.289vmem. The core gets up to 47C with my TTBT. The worst part is with the memory at 800MHz, pushing the core from ~750 to 900 doesn't do anything.. hardcore memory limited.

Is it possible to get more volts with those pencilmods? 1.74v is nothing.

Do you overclock the shaders? The shaders are really important, they can go insane high.

I'm running the shaders 1:2 to the core, which I believe is how it is stock. For some reason I can't independently clock the shaders in Rivatuner. I only went up to 1.74v as I ran out of time and I want to beef up the PWM a bit as my card has a weak setup compared to other cards. Considering how the core was getting to 47C with 1.74v, I'd say I have plenty of headroom and I'll throw 2v at it once have the PWM set. I need to find a way to manually edit the memory timings though they are either too tight or the memory just sucks.

donno how much CPU will affect these runs but i'm thinking of whipping out one of these Sony laptops again and go for gold

8.4K from previous session wasn't too shabby

there is one or two chipsets which should be able to run them in SLI or some kinda GFX boost setting whatever it's called lol

but lets just keep it simple :p
