    What make is your card?
No one had that bug before. Someone even emailed me because the fan was loud for his taste...

sapphire 3870s. 2 of them in xfire. Both are running 15-20 degrees hotter in 2d mode than your last bios with all modes running at 3d speed.

I will have to check this. What bios did you use last?
    Anyone else has similar problems?

Your last one that had everything at 777-1127.

Fan control worked great with it. But it was based on the 71 bios I see you've moved to the 73 now.

So you have the second bios. My first was also 073 based. I try to see what is wrong and probably get a new version tomorrow.

No this one is 71 based. It has fan control and is running at 777/1126 for 2d and 800/1152 for 3d.

If you did another after this one I'd love to try it as well...

the original fan problem was not in 2D but in 3D where the fan would go only up to about 30%.At 2D mode the fans rpm have not changed.I also have 65-70 degrees C at idle in the first card but this is probably cause it sucks hot air from the second card that stays 10-15 degrees lower.

You might not be aware of it but there is a 71 bios that has aggressive fan control.

    Idle 2d temp: 45-50 degrees C
    3d working hard temp: 65-70 degrees C

Daidalos's last bios is based on the 73 which doesn't have this aggressive fan control. I don't mind the noise of the fans and would much rather have cooler running GPUs.

PS) Daidalos, I appreciate your bioses. Just want to make sure you knew that, I don't want to come across otherwise.

Thanks for the info about 71 .My cards came with 67 and 73 and then jumped to Daidalos bioses. I find 73 quite aggressive so if 71 is more aggressive there must be a lot more noise from the fans .
Anyway, today i'm having some trouble with COD4 and Crysis and 8.1 Hotfix driver that keeps recovering all the time unless i switch the Catalyst AI to advanced.I read somewhere that when crossfire the catalyst AI must be on standard. Is this right???
If yes then i think i'm in trouble

8.1 has been nothing but problems for me to. I have switched back to 7.12 for now.

Yes the fans are pretty loud on the fan control 71 bios compared to 73. I don't mind though.

what is the max load temp with the stock cooler and this newest BIOS? i'd like to try it, but i'm so happy with the fanspeed aspect of my Sapphire BIOS that i don't want to change it if i don't have to. with my Sapphire Fanfix BIOS, i haven't seen my GPU's go over 63° yet. it's totally quiet on the desktop, too. is new BIOS based on the fanfix BIOS?

No definately not. I'm seeing 63 at idle with his latest. I went back to a variation of the one you have 45 at idle.

Hey Bungle, I just noticed that you upgraded your CPU. Did you really pick up that many 3dmarks? What was your score before?

    yeah, i picked up a few 3DMarks

i went from 13,525 with my E6320 @ 2.8 to 17,606 with my E8400 @ 3.825. i have a new Bone Trail on the way, so i hope to report back with 4.2 GHz on the CPU and DDR3 1864.

actual game performance hasn't changed though. my E6320 was more than enough to run anything i threw at it. the new CPU was just to feed my monkey. as far as an apples to apples comparison, i can't get my E6320 to run at 3.0 GHz on my current motherboard (FSB wall @ 425), so i have no way of seeing how the extra cache helps in benches.

    Hi everyone, i'm new here

Thanks to Daidalos and to his work, I have already a suggestion for you: what about making a bios with fixed powerplay starting from the .71 fanfix?

Sorry but i will have to delay the release of my new bios as one of my cards died after a failed vmod. As soon as a replacement arrives i will test the new bios and if it works ok i will release it.
This time i will release multiple versions with different oc levels and fan control. Stay tuned!

may I ask with which program are you editing the bioses? I used to play around with Rabit, but it's not supporting the 3800 series - yet.

I use a HEX editor not a bios modding program. If you search the bios mod section on the forums you will find many useful threads.

I just used this bios editor on the latest sapphire bios and created the following beast:

    777/1126 @ 1.3v for startup, 2d and 3d

The bios version doesn't show when flashing but it's 73 based.

If anyone wants to try it at their own discretion here it is:

Note that the editor does not change the low power 3d settings so it will go back to 300 core on load below 30%.

    This is great man.

My cards are so much cooler and still quiet.

Running Crossfire powercolor, your sapphire 71 version is great

edit: and for some reason, i can OC with rivatuner (both cards selectable in crossfire mode), dont know if this is your bios or some driver thingy that cleared that up.
