The new GT's don't over clock as well because all the good cores go to the GTS G92 and if they fail for that then they go to the GT OC editions if they fail that then to the stock editions.

Its best to pick up a second hand one with the old smaller fan then swop the old cooler for the new cooler or a after market one.

Did you check the temp ? The card might be overheating once OCed.

Mine does ~21% OC just fine. The "new" one with the 75mm fan. Haven't done any mods to it, yet.
Running @ 65C load with stock cooling. Haven't heard many users that has any problems OC'ing their new 8800GT's ~15%+ either.

    Hey!

Im looking into doing this later on so Im just coming on here to check im doing it right, haven't bios flashed this before.

    On stock on VID Mode:

This is the BIOS read with nibitor with just 1.1v added on to the extra one. All other voltages are stock, is this all I need to do or is there anything else? Extra voltage was blank before I changed it.

    Thanks!

Yeah, you only need to change the "Extra" option to 1.1v. Your card may already have 1.1v, so maybe you won't see any improvements. There's no way to tell from these two screen if the card is running 1.1v already I think.

IIRC, some users with the blank field in the original BIOS reported improvement after selecting 1.1V. Thus it seems a blank field would mean the Vcore is only 1.05V only. I cannot confirm this with my GT, the filed was set to 1.05V.

Anyway as Alexio said, the best way is to try and see if you get any improvements

My RMA'ed XFX had blank field in Original BIOS, and i reported improvements by changing it to 1.1

I think you are right on this. I have 2 eVGA 8800GT SSC 700/2000/1725 stock. I am able to push it to 760/2090/1850 no problems on stock cooling. I will be putting on my new eK-FB and have them up and running by Tuesday. See if I can push it some more with better cooling.. Broke 19K on 3DMARK06 on Vista x32 with these cards finally..

In the same boat, never tried anything like this before. Here what my Inno3D looks like

So in Exact mode I just change Extra to 1.1v ?

I'll give it a try if I can get my usb stick to become bootable.

My previous best was Core 685Mhz / Mem 990Mhz / Shaders 1800 Mhz for 3d06.

Cool, pretty easy to do, took longer to make my USB stick bootable and to read all 22 pages in this thread.

I just tried 3D06 with 710/1820/995 , previously my PC would bsod at this, and it ran fine, keep in mind the cpu is at default speed atm.

    Thanks alexio / guys.

If you already did the 1.1 Vcore bios mod, there is nothing much you can do without soldering.

But 750/1800/2000 is really good result. I think most of the GT doesn't go as high as yours (mine for instance )

I ended up being able to run 3D06 at 740core 1860shader 999memory. Huge improvement over what I could get before.

So what should the GPU voltage be now?

Load ATITool im getting 1.142v (no errors but lines and dots everywhere)
    Load on 3D06 1.141 - 1.151v
    Idle ~ 1.116v

That's the 1.1v bios setting. The card overvolts a bit, especially when loaded.

I also have a blank field on my bios for the extra, you guys think it might work on a Palit 1Gb edition, and anyone know where are the vGPU and vMEM read points for this card ?

Water cooling would help you get a higher OC with a vmod, but won't help with a stock card. I swapped the stock cooler with a Thermalright V2 air cooling and it didn't OC more either even though it was 20C cooler. That means you are voltage limited. I am at 805/1950/1950 now and you should reach higher than that if you vmodded.
