So have you tried increasing the voltage? I used to get that when I first bought the board with my Ballistix.....they required more voltage than the stock 1.8V to POST, so I had to buy a stick of value RAM and POST with it, then set the voltage, shutdown, then install the Ballistix.
Needless to say, I sold the Ballistix.

BTW guys, there is a new version of PC Probe out.

Finally got my computer up and running, think I have my raid 0 setup on 2 500GB HDDs correctly, does this HDTach seem about right? As well it's showing the full 1TB size in My Computer, shouldn't it only be showing the size of one drive with a raid 0 setup? Thanks

Open the Matrix Storage Manager application, right click on your RAID array and enable "Write Back Cache". It'll increase your performance.
Your RAID 0 array is 1gb so why should it show half of it? It's being seen as just one volume.

I have a question of my own. I'm currently at 9x400 at 1.35v vcore with vdrop pencil mod on the board, as described on the OP. Works great
It's perfectly stable and when I get back from work I'm going to continue pushing it.

However since I attached my older drives it takes a much longer time to get past the hardware detection screen. The system stalls after finding my USB mouse, which is after the memory detection. I hear one of my drives do a little work and no matter what I change in the bios it always does this. The stall takes about 20 seconds. I also tried playing with the ATA(PI) detection time but that doesn't change anything, like I said.

It is stable with 9x425 but not with 8.5x450.

you need transaction booster disabled and set to "1" over 445FSB.

My e8400 prefers(less voltage for stability) 500x8.5/600mhz ram over 475x9/570mhz ram...

Try setting the trans booster relax level to 1 or increasing the NBV. You need to turn the DRAM voltage down to 2.16-2.18 because the board overvolts it. On mine I get 2.22V when I set it to 2.18V. I used to run Ballistix, and they're known to die from overvolting.....so you want to be careful.
    You should be able to run 5-5-5-15 4 42 6 4 secondary 8 3 5 4 6 4 6 @ 2.18V (for now, might want to bump down to 2.16V 24/7)
Take the NBV up to 1.65V just for now, as you can test lower settings after you're stable. Just make sure that the temps stay around 45C and you're fine.

I see a few with what sounds liek the same but just to make sure. After flashing to v0903 again from v0802, I cannot load to XP with anything other then F2 to continue and load defaults. If I so much as F1 to enter CMOS and then exit, it hangs at DET rAM even if I select Load defaults. I can run XP if I press F2 and then flash back with Live Update v6.10.02 for XP x64) and now all the same. I can EZ-Flash to v0907 and same thing. So I use live Update to go back to v0802 again and still the same.

I can enter and resume S3 (sleap/stand by) I can enter S4 (deap sleap/hibernate) but have to go through CMOS reset like before to get the F2 menue to continue and XP will resume. I cant even restart without haveing to clear CMOS to get to F2 to continue.

Histery: ended up at BETA BIOS v0907 a month ago (always EZ-Flash) and rolled back to v0802 via ASUS Live Update v6.10.02, cause of issues with ACPI issues

I had nothing but good 4 months beforr

No man that is not the thing because 8x450 is ok with my settings on voltages/settings.

Yes, but chipset is hammered harder @ 9x & 8.5x than 8x...bandwidth & cpu speed are directly related.

Are you using settings as I described? If not, then what?

Look, cpu multi and chip multi are different. there is a bit of delay in converting this as bus speeds are different. Different multi's require different delays, as each time you adjust speeds, ratio for the busses is different. One setting may work for one multi, does not mean it works for others!

I'm getting stable at 470 FSB now , trying to get cpu voltage down a little, do I really need to set relax level to 1 or 0 is fine , everytime I set timing manually I get hang at DET DRAM , so for now I can't do anything for timing just auto detect at 5-5-5-18 , which is not bad ,
For the DRAM voltage , is this board really overvolts it , what program can I use to see the DRAM voltage ,
    Thanks for the inputs

Hey. Totally n00b question, so apologies in advance.

I'm trying to find Vista x64 chipset drivers for this board.

When I first got the board, I installed 8.3.0.1013, but Intel doesn't say anything about that being for X38.

***EDIT: I figured it out. I was just freaking out that Intel didn't explicitly say 8.3.0.1013 was for X38.

This board is so whacked..I can leave enabled, disabled, auto, whatever, boots just fine. Some people just have bum boards, it seems...people having issues I see @ 550FSB..but they are @ like 400FSB... My first board ran really hot and then died after a month or so, but my second seems great...

Bios settings for those with Corsiar Ram
The ASUS P5K3 bios settings can help with some rudimentary problems.

    Example:
    DRAM Static Read Control: Disabled
    DRAM Dynamic Write Control: Disabled
    PCIE Frequency: 100
    etc

But remember this is DDR3 MB. If I find anything that relates to X38 other then just DDR2 settings I'll post.

    We need information:
    -CPU
    -Memory Sticks

If speedstep or C1E are enabled windows (cpu-z) will read it at lower multi when CPU is idling. When CPU is working, the multi will go up! This is normal operation for CPU! Check bios to see if either are enabled.

key in the value in bios
    CPU Ratio Setting [9.5]

or disable intel speedstep technology in CPU configuration
