    E8500 Air + 2900 CF Stock - some 3D numbers

Tested a retail E8500 today, Air Cooled for now

    Setup:
    - E8500 Q743A798
    - TuniqTower 120
    - Asus Maximus Extreme
    - Cellshosck 1800 7-6-5-18
    - 2 stock 2900XT CF 880-990 - PCIe @ 140Mhz
    - Silverstone 1200W

    First a sub-10 SuperPi 1M Air cooled

Don't like the temperatures, but they seems common with the new 45nm dual cores

    Second, 3D Mark 2005 - 30K easy

Third, of course, my favorite game

    87K all Air Cooled

I may try this CPU on the cascade, but I dont have many hopes since in this X38 mobo seems to top at 530Mhz with 8.5 multiplier air cooled, in cascade my gain +/-40Mhz FSB but is not enought

Maybe my P35 board - Foxconn Mars - will give higger FSB

Nice scores. First Q743 E8500 i see me thinks, lots of very strong E8400's from the same week though. Maximus doesnt seem to be a very good board to test max FSB, i was a bit disappointed with me chip until i put it in Commando. Looking forward to your cascade results.

Nice chip my friend My E8400 hits 80c at only 1.4v (remounted 3 times...good contact) so dont worry

    4.7GHz 8M SuperPi spikes up to 56C with 1.58v

    corsair nautilus 500

[edit] truth be told i did notice a ~6C temp jump with a newer version of coretemp

lol yes...realy. my new QX9650 runs at good temps though....

I also have E8400ES that never goes over 60c 1.6v....some chips are just hotter than other, or have concave IHS.

    PATA HD disk of course

No SATA disk with onboard controler can suport much more than 120Mhz PCIe

Pedro i presume you've tweaked all the secondary voltages to maximise your max FSB?
I was suprised at the addition headroom i got.
