This doesn't necessarily mean the IC won't do higher speeds, proven by the fact that it's used in a PC2-8500 kit.

All PC2-8500 memory is actually overclocked PC2-6400, because the latter is the highest DDR2-specification designed by JEDEC.

No, I don't think it's that simple. Crucial Ballistix PC2-6400 overclocks pretty good and they use the same -25F ICs.

Try running it at 5-5-5-15. Clockspeed is more important than timings and you will need looser timings to gain a higher clockspeed.
Use a higher voltage if necessary, but try not to go over 2.3V for too long. Also put a fan over the modules.

No, that doesn't help. Both Micron D9GMH and D9GKX are 10x10mm.
It says it's meant to be running 2.3v - 2.4v, so I have it always 2.3v and yes it's always very warm, especially with 4 slots full. Looking at a way to mount some fans on it the past few days. But according to g.skill 2.4v still covers life time warranty.

    When I tried 1150MHz+ i used 5-5-5-15.

D9GCT is from the same generation as D9GMH and D9GKX, only a slightly lower bin.
Overclocking results vary. Most do pretty good, some don't.

when this super talent came out about 1 or 2 years back it was near the best you could get. the heatspreader has changed, but do you know what chips they are using?

i am currently using g.skill hz (2gb) and this ram is still around $140 per kit so i was looking for a cheaper set of d9gmh to match them. thanx.

As far as I know these still have D9GMH.

I've come across numerous cases where they had ProMOS. Not the best chance of getting Micron.

You could have found both answers using my DDR2 RAM List.

G.Skill 6400HZ is just under $130 at Newegg. If by 'match them' you mean you're planning to use them together with the other G.Skills you might want to reconsider getting a different kit.
Using two different kits at the same time could result in compatibility issues and besides, $130 isn't that much.

For overclocking, you mean? That hasn't changed. It's still Micron D9GMH/D9GKX.

    Thumbs up

Picked up the RMA on my G.Skill F2-8500CL5D-2GBHK today, is stamped D9GMH this time instead of Ballistix. Hopefully when I RMA the other set it comes back the same.

I got new Super Talent RAMs...

    T1000UB1G4

They are rated 1000MHz at CL4-5-4-15!

What chips could be on them? On the DDR2 list I only can find ST PC8000 RAM with latencies CL5-5-5-15, but this one is different...

I dont want to unmount the heatspreader for its kinda "glued" on, its not like it has clips to unattach it or something, still I am curios...

These chips tough can perfrom at 1GHz in CL4-4-4-12 ~ 2.15V

Any idea? Might have the chance they got micron d9... ?

You simply have a T1000UX2G4 kit consisting of two T1000UB1G4 modules.
So basically your chances of having Micron are pretty good.

    Super Talent

Okay, I just received the answer from Super Talent support, in regarding to what kind of chips used on my T1000UB1G4 modules.

    Here it is

    Dear Customer,

Yes they are Micron D9 – not sure which batch though.

I just ordered a GSkill PC8000 2x2GB kit. Hopefully I'll be able to get above 1000mhz in my setup. The Corsair PC6400 sticks I was using just weren't cutting it.

Hm, dont u know, is there a way, I could check out the sub-timings for these rams. I just dont want them run 10-10-10-11, IF I could go lower

Okay, i figured it out! In BIOS I set the timings "By SPD", aka automaic

Here it goes, not bad, iznit?

I'm no expert here, just learning myself, but PL12 is pretty bad?? On my P35 and x38 boards when at stock clocks and timings with ddr1066 ram I have a PL4 or mby PL5.

Not necessarily bad, just default on many P965 boards. It's the same with my P5B Deluxe.

PL doesnt work on 965 chipset based boards when running 1:1 FSB/RAM ratio...
It only works when its 2:3 or 4:5 ratio in use...

    Now you do!

Anyway, Perfromance Level aka. Static Read Control in BIOS can be set of course (disabled, auto, fast, faster)!
I did try it, just out of curiousity, set it to Faster! That gave under XP the PL to 10! Not much difference to 12 tough... I dont have to say, none of the benchmarks
    showed improvement!
Another thing, in OC era, if you want to achive higher memory clock, Static Read Control (PL) should be set to disabeld.

First of all, this depends on what chips were used. Check with Corsair's IC Inquiry Thread to see what your memory has.

Second, it's basically trial and error. Up the clockspeed and voltage until you reach the max.

Question about the OCZ PC2-6400 2GB SLI Ready kit (part # OCZ2N800SR2GK) with timings of 4-4-4. Looked at the Ram list a while back and I think that I remember these being Promos based. Tried the list right before posting and couldn't get it to come up.

Does anyone know if these still use Promos and if so, would it be the same Promos chips used in the G.Skills HKs...the ones with the Blue heatspreaders, or are there different Promos being used?

I don't think that they are great overclockers, but should be capable of 450-475, maybe even 500MHz, I would think. Anybody have a set that they could share their experience with?

I found a set yesterday at my new CompUSA/Tiger Direct store mislabeled and got them for $9.99, plus sales tax. Didn't really need them, but at that price, what the heck.
In memory of Gracie, my sweet, sweet wife and mother of my children. Darling, we will miss you dearly. May you rest in peace (born to this world on March 30, 1976; went to her Heavenly Father on Good Friday, April 22, 2011).
