that he and his friends tested like 8 cpu, and all showed degrations within days, 1 of them used only 1.41v, and some days ago i saw a guy talking about that his cpu was death in 6 hours with just like 1.45vcore....
I am abit skeptical about this, I have yet to see problems with f.e. Q6600s or nobody reports them, but in this short time after release there are already peeps reporting problems.. . altho is wont hold off my Wolfdale that comes tomorrow.

Ah well I think this is maybe abit to early to say tho, we need some time to figure it out....
    Impossible.

Human error. Do not believe everything you read on the net.

Besides , you can damage a cpu even at stock volts if you do not know what you are doing. I say those guys are full of SPAM!!!

    Time will tell.

So far noone has reported this degration on this thread and they've had their cpu's overclocked for atleast a week. So lets hope it stays that way.

    1.225v to be percise.

So if you have a huge block of a heatsink +.15v should 100% safe as long as temps are under 50c all the time.

Also this P5K is struggling at 500FSB, it must think it is an nvidia 680i.

    Andy
Nice vid. on that cpu tho.

For the record, I've pumped more than 1.6v into E8400 for more than an hour at a stretch. I have been running it at 1.4750v the last 48 hours. That says nothing, because all cpus are not the same. But it's too early to pin anything on voltages right now.

@origin_Unknown: The fact that your psu blew is all the evidence you need that your board was not getting the power it needed. Of course, a faulty psu is the best component killer.

Best thing is to ask more people how their CPUS clock after some days with 1.4 & 1.5V .

Human error is 1 , 2... or even 3 CPUS ... not 8 from different experienced users.

    Mine too.

But i got it back stable...

    Maximus formula SE...

I had to loosen transaction booster to 2 from 0.

UM....WTF!?! Never more than 1.425v, never been on air, this cpu.

its hard to pin it down to that since ive been running the e6600 with that psu for along time with more volts than i was using with the e8500.

im going to rma the psu and see what happens from there

PSUs don't just blow out of the blue, there must be something really serious... like an overload? My bet is that the cpu had nothing to do it with it unless there was less juice in the psu to provide enough power for those overclocks in the first place; this is 45nm afterall.

I'd be worried about what version of bios comes on that IP35, if you are buying it new and have no older cpu at home.

No idea...would have to pull it apart and see what blew to have any inkling of an idea. But it's really hard to swallow it being the cpu @ fault, real hard.
