    Need your opinions

    Sup all.

Got my Q6600 running at 389X9 for an even 3.5GHz, stable.

I'm a bit worried about the vcore I have to use to get it there, probably due to the high VID of 1.3250v.

I tried lower vcore's but it will lock up on the desktop and reboot or give me a BSOD and reboot.

I can get it to 400x9 for a nice 3.6GHz but temps go too high and it fails prime.

I also tried 438x8 for 3.5GHz but having trouble keeping it stable, NB temp goes over 47 and upon booting it fails the OC with either no display init or just hangs at detram.

I have removed the cooling assembly when I received my Maximus (freezer popped right off) I have applied AS5.

My TRUE and Q6600 are lapped with AS5, also using a push/pull configuration.

I would just like some input on my high vcore and my settings if theres anything I might need to change.

Here are my settings and screen shots of temps below.

Ok guys, new e8400 here. Maximus bios 907. My core temps read 39/57 at idle whether I am at stock or 4ghz +.

Under full load they reach 59/59 max. Im pretty sure on the 903, which my board had prior to the e8400, and when I first put the e8400 in my temps were much lower, in the high 20deg range.

Has anyone else experienced this? Recommended bios for this chip? It's kind of annoying for sure. LOL.

    I'm running 907, e8400 @ 475x9 for 4275mhz, ram on 5:6 @ 1140mhz, 1.425v, temps don't budge off of 40c, idle or loaded.

Water temp goes up 2c tho...

For those that are having issues @ approx 450FSB....Transaction Booster must be set to disabled, and at least 1, or you'll either not boot(DET DRAM), or have random stability issues.

I said earleir heat was an issue...I was wrong wrong wrong.

    Hey guys,

Just a small something on the vDroop with this board. When running my old PCP&C 510w TurboCool I'd get a slight vDroop on the vCore, but now I've swapped it out for a ThermalTake ToughPower 850w I actually get a slight overvolt on the vCore. As an example, I used to use 1.525v in the bios for 1.5v stable real. Now the same setting give between 1.52v and 1.528v, fluctuating to latter more.

Anyone else had a similar experience?

Kup: No, I'm at 1.45 BIOS and 1.42 real.

Grnfinger: What is your vCore for 4.3GHz? I'm testing at 4.23, but it seems I need 1.45 vCore for it. It seems high, but temperatures are around 58(c), load. I want to get higher, but I haven't seen many people put that much volts through this thing. Any ideas?

I would up your NB volts for there looking real low, I need 1.47 on the NB to run 3.6GHz on my quad. Your FSBT is also low imo try 1.40
As for your high vcore I have the same issue high VID of 1.325 so the chip scales rather poorly.
    3.4GHz I need 1.43volts on the cpu
3.6GHz I need 1.55volts so as you can see you need alot to go slightly higher

Hi. I really appreciate your help!

The oddest thing is that I can POST 4.3GHz no problem at vCore 1.3875 or even lower, but Vista won't load without 1.45, minimum. The same is true for faster speeds: low vCore = POST, but no Vista! Incidentally, 1.45 vCore still gives me load temps around 55.

Also, my RAM is weird: it won't POST at 1:1 in either 333 or 400, but it does just fine at the faster 12:10. I'm going to run memtest on the faster speed (probably 1200) tonight.

    Thanks again for your help!

I run Vista also and have no trouble booting with low volts.
with my quad I turned indexing off in vista and it really helped alot
I run my ram as you know on the 333 strap @ 1148MHz
I need dram static to Auto, and trans booster disabled or it will not boot.
setting my CPU PLL to auto ( and watch the actual in bios hardware monitor)
    got teh chip stable fast.
If your running 4x1GB sticks you will have to up the NB

Anyone running a Q6600 at 3.8 GHz on this board? I'm having a little trouble getting it totally stable it seems.....I thought it was stable, but apparently I never ran it past 30 minutes OCCT blended........my PC reboots after about 45 minutes Prime95 blended.....I've been testing higher VCore, FSBT, NBV, etc.......I dunno.

Yup, been running 3.825GHz 9x425, and 3.915GHz 9x435 for a while. Rock solid board now the bios has matured a little.

Honestly I couldn't say, I know for one that I got a good Q6600 with a VID of 1.2375v and my ram, Corsair XMS2 6400C4 clocks pretty good too, but I've just always been able to run those clocks.

I can get the occasional restart, but maybe once every few weeks, but I do get them even when clocked lower, so I expect it's just the board bugging or XP playing silly buggers with me.

My Blitz Formula is the same, easily does 425x9 and on a Dual Core so far, out the box (5mins tweaking) does 515MHz FSB!

Thats what I experienced with this new E8400, I think I have a total of 15-20 mins invested to reach a cool 4.3GHz, my quad however was a real pian in the arse to get it stable beyond 3.6Ghz.
I'm going to shop around for a new Q6600 or Yorkfield ( if I can get the wife over the price tag of a yorkie )

First post here, and I think I have gone through the entire thread, but I have my q6600 at 400x9 using Maglins settings on Page 1, 12 hours dual orthos stable.

When I try to goto 411x9 for 3.7ghz I can get into OCCTP and start a stability test, but it reboots my system say 2 minutes into the load phase.

I tried up too 1.45v on the cpu with the same result.

Does any one have an idea where my stability problem lies?
And does anyone have 425x9 or 450x9 settings they would like to share?

@ 1.4v my temps never break 60 on the core and my NB is at 51 load /w 1.55v in everest

I have bumped up my NB and FSBT voltages a bit.

But now I wanted to see what I can do with the 8 multi so I could keep my memory at 1:1 and maybe lower some timings to get better overall performance.
    8X400, boots fine no problems.
    8X410, boots fine no problems.
    8X420, boots but 2 of 4 cores dissapear, core #3 & #4.
This happens when I go from 411fsb to 412fsb, have I reached this chips max
    fsb?

I have tried diffrent voltages but as soon as I reach 411 or 412 and up 2of4 cores dont show, the system still runs on the remaining 2.

I have kept the memory out of the equasion by using a lower divider 1:1, my mem can do DDR2-1000.

I'm trying this 8 multi and hoped I could get to 438X8 to get the same speed as 388X9 I was using before.

I know it's not the board cause I tried it with my E6750 and got to 475X7 with out too much hassle.

Have you seen this before where 2 of 4 cores dont show in either Windows or BIOS?

I'm watching the next bios release closely. If it has none of those secondary tweaks for the x48, I'll be sending a FEW e-mails to Asus.

I don't know about the emails to Asus, but I'll be watching closely, too. I've maxed my chip out at 9x 410, 8x 460 and 7x 510 (although 500ish the NB was way too hot to be stable) and I'm pretty sure more board latency options would help. It seems that my memory OC is limited by the board latency and there is no real sweet spot with the settings available. Either too loose and or too tight.

Me too, I want the bios features that are in the Rampage bios
My Rig can do EpicFLOPs, Can yours?

I can get the occasional restart, but maybe once every few weeks, but I do get them even when clocked lower, so I expect it's just the board bugging or XP playing silly buggers with me.

My Blitz Formula is the same, easily does 425x9 and on a Dual Core so far, out the box (5mins tweaking) does 515MHz FSB!
What memory clocks are you running? I have some strange results when stress testing.........I'm running DDR2-1128 with trans booster disabled relaxed 1, but I NEVER crash or reboot when gaming......
