i see your VID is below 1.0v...i was wondering what is your max overclock at 1.45 actual vcore and how much heat (core & PWM) does it produce when you run wPrime 1024M stability bench.
BTW No Difference in voltage reading using 1.42. Actually think it made my system crash using that and 1.43 at the same time

Everything Stock in Load its 1.13vcore and totally Stable. I wish i Could go lower but Bios won't let me, my older P956 DS3 let me chose any voltage and im almost certain chip would be able to go lower. Are there any hidden options in this motherboard that you can enable with like CTRL + F1?
no hidden options that i am aware of.

    what bios are you using?

suggest you clear CMOS in addition to popping the battery out for about 5-10 minutes...make sure you unplug the PSU and push the power button to ensure any electrical charge in capacitors gets discharged.

As well my lowest set voltages I can pick is 1.2V bios (1.06V CPU-z) which sucks since heck my VID is 0.975V so surely it could be lower if needed. I know one of my older boards could go nice and low. Wish I had the option still to do it, think it was my Asus P5B-Deluxe that could go down to 1.1V at least selectable in Bios.
you have the same difference that i have, about a 0.14v offset from bios setting versus actual vcore....i am using beta 16.b04.

cpuz 1.42 and 1.43 reports accurate vcore, so believe it...abit has a problem with getting the bios settings to match up with actual vcore...i found my difference between actual vcore and bios setting and then, i adjust by adding that to the available settings in the bios...in mine and your case, it is 0.14v....you can also use Uguru to tweak the voltages...i have a 0.10v difference between Uguru and actual vcore...the "OC guru" in Uguru is indicating higher set vcore versus actual by 0.10v.

you also have a low VID like myself, which is 0.9625...i can't overclock above 4.2ghz without overheating the cores and PWM temp...i use coretemp 096 to measure my temps...i get a 10 degree split between each pair of cores...weird, but i think that is intel's problem with putting in DTS sensors which are not reliable.

So Clear CMOS, and right away without any bootup take out the battery for 10 min?

Ace A Rue what temp do you have on PWM with the mod on PWM?

I just figured more stables settings for myself, im not running 4300mhz with vcore 1.55, i had to bump MCH to 1.52. What is MCH?

that is the best procedure...don't forget to load default settings...i just tried loading default settings without pulling the battery out and it would not reduce the multi...my vcore is already low at 1.04v...voltages and cpu settings were set to auto.

Ace A Rue what temp do you have on PWM with the mod on PWM?
it was no higher than 55C using a Kentsfield "G0" cpu...this 2nd penryn (9650) with a low VID cannot accept very high vcore without overheating the cores and PWM.

MCH is memory controller hub...equivalent to NB voltage.

Is there any way we could of killed two mem slots doing the heatpipe mod ?
We had all 4 slots working before (4x1Gb) and the mod seemed to seemed to go real well.
Now we can't get it to boot with anything in slot 1 or 2 - 3 and 4 are working fine though ?

have you tried clearing CMOS with battery out for a while?

have you confirmed that all four sticks work in the remaining two good dimm slots?

if you've done all the above, my guess would be a cold solder point that is affecting those two slots...probably enough board torquing to make the cold sold point more evident with increased resistance.

supposedly 16.b03 was tweaked for memory.

16.b04 was tweaked for penryn processors, and, i presume made compatible with wolfdale's.

Thank you very much for the suggestions - will do the battery thing and double check for warping - all four sticks work fine in 3 and 4

    Hey all, first post.

I just wanted to check what the temps of PWM should be. I also was wondering what PWM is? My temp under full load (prime95 on all four cores) is 93-95c.

I'm also experiencing some random instability under full load and am looking for some help to clear this up.

    My voltages are as follows:
    CPU: 1.550 BIOS, 1.510-1.520 (CPU-Z 1.43), 1.50-1.520 (uGuru), 1.45v Load
    DDR2: 2.225
    VTT: 1.42
    MCH: 1.74
    ICHIO: 1.70
    DDR2 Reference: +2%
    CPU GTLREF 1-4: 69%

    CPU is at 9x400=3.6Ghz
    Memory is at 1000Mhz (1:1.25) 5-5-5-15

Any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong?

Yes, I have. I even have a 40mm fan strapped to the heatsink (Not the SB or NB, so I assume it's the PWM?).
