How are the issues with cold/multipliers/fsb on the Nvidia reference boards? I'm guessing you were running 344x17 (ORB says 333fsb)?
There are definitely issues with the cold/fsb/multi's. Got bring some of that way down when pushing big cpu mhz/really cold temps.

Imagine what the 2006 score would be on SLI/yorkfield with 450+ fsb on 13x or even 480+fsb with 12x like these p35/x38 xfire guys are doing. 2006 loves all that extra bandwidth
Give me 480fsb on SLI and I will show you 31k at same cpu mhz/card clocks as 30k run...I am working on it
Can pull 9800 cpu score in 2006 with p35/x38 running at full tilt compared to the 9400 cpu score at the same cpu mhz I ran on the 780i.
I am grateful for any yorkfield support with SLI, so I'll take whatever I can get.

    Yeah, that's really a shame

You had no problems with multipliers higher than 13x? I'm having big issues with that though I'm not running reference board but Striker II.

Doesn't getting 30k in XP with SLi and getting 29.5k with Tri in Vista kind of show the hog that Vista is? M$ needs to do a little more optimization and maybe when NV gets the driver matured a bit those scores will go up as well. Congrats on the 30k guys. Amazing

You really need a different mindset and approach when clocking these boards.
    So different than intel chipset.
Havent even seen a striker2 yet, so not sure about that board. So when you set higher than 13x...no post? no boot? unstable?
    Extreme or formula?

Well, when I was comparing SLI/XP versus TRI-SLI/Vista in 2006 at exactly clock for clock, setting for setting basically completely untweaked vista WITHOUT service pack1, only difference in OS/drivers and one extra card the vista was pulling about 800 points higher in final score than the XP consistently. TRI causes a massive boost in canyon flight and thats it really. The FPS are ridiculous. Charles REALLY knows how to tweak vista good and showed me whats up so whan I go back to tri I should be able to get the 2006 going properly. Some better drivers would help immensely. Look how much better the forceware xp's are in 2006 compared to pre- 158.22's so I would expect the vista drivers to get much better as well.

biiiig respect vince and charles for pulling this off with this buggy nv chipset

played with a 680 board again today and man... i couldnt get anything done with it... different issue every reboot, mem and cpu clocked much worse than on even 965 boards, not to mention p35 and x38...

Yeah, I've been through a few 680i boards however there seems that every board is very different where some allow higher multiplier than others?

I've got Striker II Formula, 14x multi = no post, debugger card shows b1 and if you press reset it tries again and gets stuck on b3.

Damn, so you pretty much cant do anything then to get the chip up to LN2 speed on that mobo?? . Maybe this is why asus has been awol on getting me a sample to overclock on LN2 . I can say for certain that on 3 EVGA 780iSLI mobos I tested the multis work perfectly up to 17x with 9770 ES, 9650 ES, and 9650 retail.

Great achievement KP and Fugger on somewhat old tech.

Looking forward to the next gen hardware.

The EVGA bios Jakup fashed on us did allow us the upper multi's above 12x with an ES chip. The retail was going above 12x nicely.

The XFX bios wont post with 13x multiple with my QX9770 ES.

Yeah, works fine for air but anything subzero is just not possible right now.

Thanks both of you for your answers, I've sent Asus an email about this. If they can fix this multiplier issue it'd be interesting to see what the board could do, I believe it has the best cpu power-area I've seen from them to date

Shouldn't the EVGA and XFX BIOS be basically identical?

It was time for 30K with NVidia, it's well deserved.
    The CPU clock is nuts!
    The Initial value finished
    ...
    PI calculation is done!

    that's interesting
the XFX 780i board hates cold
we've tried both cascade and LN2 and as soon as it gets chilly it just becomes useless.....keeps restarting....going all pair shamed. nothing can get it stable. We thought insulation or some crap but on the second run we were pretty anal about it and same different bunch of hardware on it as well (CPU that were capable of the cold)...>> actually my XFX 680i was acting similar to this as well lol

31,000 points 3DMARK 2006 soon. SLI is on a rampage...benching really hard for it atm.....How are those ATI cards coming George??

    ORB COMPARE

How about 5920mhz SLI on the EVGA 780i 3dmark 01 stability on my F1 eXtreme
Easy run just pushing cpu mhz:

With full card power, will make a push for 118k+ SLI
    6GHZ 3D isn't an impossibility atm .
