probably right, I am at work, not at home, so not looking at things, and I set it up real fast just before work, no time to tweak yet, just plugged it in, and hoped for the best.

Guys, I'm not sure if you understood me correctly. I see the X38-T2R has no pipe (Transpiper or whatever it is), but there is a separate NORTH bridge cooler in the box. That's fine, but I'm asking whether a SOUTH bridge cooler can be installed. Can I replace this one:

I know that south bridge cooling is not so important like NB, but I would still like to add one on the SB like this one for example:

Yes the SB heatsink can be replaced. With which one the graphics card is going to be the limiting factor.

Well you get what you pay for, the Geil is really made me a believer. Quad 32M SuperPi stable!

pretty damn happy, vcore 1.4875, vdimm 2.27 (2.1-2.3 is rated voltage for these dimms) NB 1.579, very impressed.

That's what I wanted to know. TY, Praz!

Somebody running 4x1GB Ballistix PC2 8500 on this board, as I'm having a kit of these and I consider buying another one? The choice of 2x2GB KITs is very limited atm. Maybe I should take a look at those GeIL EVO's, but I'm unsure if it would be better than Crucial 4x1's...

P.S. I'm getting the board in a few days. I chose it over Maximus and X38-DQ6, hope I won't regret it.
    Soon..

made mistake , took my mosfet off and replaced the thermal paste with AS5 Ceramique and gues what. I have alot higher temp's now then before. If anybody knows what I made wrong since it wasn't my first time to apply TP to mosfet.

You are either going to have to use a lot of TIM or preferably reapply thermal tape.

Unless there is something terrible wrong the best thing a person can do is not disturb the original interface material on a digital MOSFET. FET to FET height is never identical because of on-board placement tolerances. The die size of these MOSFETs make it difficult to shed the heat that is produced from the loading that we subject them to. And finally because of the mounting method of the heatsink the board has a tendency to bow at the middle FETs. When combined, these issues make conventional TIM a rather poor choice for an upgraded cooling solution.

Best SB solution that I've found for this Mobo so far and great to use with 2 x Crossfire:

    ENZOTECH SLF-1

Fits like a charm, pure cooper and also has a fan!

thank you Praz, I will reapply again and see if it will get better, otherwise I'll try it with the thermal tape. So playing around with the DIGITAL MOSFET is bad idea, but now it's to late for me I'll have to fix it again
Tnx again Praz, I appreciate it!

Southbridge cooler has to have a hole to hole distance of 59mm but I think VCRE only has 54mm

    @ Jor3lBR : how much dba for the ENZOTECH SLF-1 ?

the board is verry strong for 4 stick i got her upto 1200mhz with 4 sticks
runing 4 sticks is tougher on the board though

    Hi to all!

I'm a new owner of this mobo and i have some problems; First of all my sistem:

    - Intel Q6600 step G0

    - 4x1 Gb Crucial Ballistix Tracer PC8500

    - 1 hd seagate 250 Gb SATA

    - Ati x550

    - WIN XP with SP2

    THE PROBLEMS:

    - The "fake boot": I've installed the last official bios and at default the sistem see my rams like CRUCIAL PC6400 with these settings "266/800" and with the voltage "1,904" and all other options are setted to "AUTO".....i use an APC 800VA and everytime i'v finished to use pc i turn off the power button of apc...After this when i went to turn on the pc ,fisrt i turn on the APC,then i turn on the pc,but....the first time the pc starts and after 2-3 seconds it turn off automatically and after 2-3 seconds it re-starts and it loads all the OS normally...have you got any ideas???

    - The Crucials: i try to put them (4 sticks of 1 Gb) at default as Crucial sais:2,2 Volts and "266/1066"and the other settings setted on "AUTO" but the instability rules.....so i had the suspect of memory broke and with the memtest 1,70 (with the ddr2 at 2,2v/1066) ALL of 4 sticks (try one by one on the first yellow slot) had many errors...but is it possible that 4 modules with a week of life were all corrupted?
Or i must setted very well "clock fine delay" and "read delay phases"?...must i set the correct timings manually in the bios if i want to use them as DDR2 PC8500?...if you know..tell me al the bios settings.. to work with 4 gb of crucials and a q6600 all at default.......Last thing : The pc seems to be stable only with the crucial at 800 MHZ....with the crucial at 1066 IE crash and the in some cases the pc (from windows9 reboot automatically...

    - in your dfi the standby led doen't turn off in every cases?

now bye and thx for all......i wait your replies....

That's a requirement of the chipset. When power is completely remove from the system the board has to boot twice for the chipset register to be properly configured.

266/1066 results in the NB being stressed as that is not a stock setting. Board voltages will have to be adjusted to compensate.

ok guys ive set all my watercooling up and im about to plug in the fans which will provide some general airflow, looked in the manual to see where the fan connectors are and instead i learn that the 'cpu fsb select' is done with a jumper... I thought that on the dfi p35 boards the strap was listed together with the memory dividers in the bios??

Also should i put my ram in the yellow or green slots?

That jumper is to cold boot at those FSB, make sure your chip can handle that fsb at the VID it is listed at. Better to leave it low, and clock through the bios.

Green is channel 1 and 3, use them
