Is the Vcore on 0906 and 0603 the same when the Voltage Damper is disabled? Or is the Vdroop on 0906 even worse than on 0603?

0603 Does not have vcore bug...0906 does.

Use heatsinks by all means but no real need for pencil mod as long as your using 0603 bios and below.

And if you are saying is right, so there would be the same vdrop as 0603, so that's good(because P5K-deluxe is a high-end motherboard)!
my guess would be that we can, however somebody needs to try it.
i'm sitting with the 503 bios that came with my board, haven't even tried 603 - everything is working perfect (running even Samsung HDDs in RAID, which are supposed to error with these mobos), so there was no need for me...

That choice is up to you to make.

I'm getting an E8500 on Monday probably. Will leave my current 0603 on and see how it goes with it. If i can't get it to start and have to go borrow some Conroe to update then i'm gonna kill somebody.

Didn't anyone try a wolfie with the 06x bios?

Damn! Thanks for the heads up mate. I'll make sure to update to 0906 before i sell this E6750. The vdrop on that is 1.6v bios -> 1.5v cpuz ?

    Around that.

The good thing is that you prolly won't need 1.6v on a Wolfdale.

Can you upgrade the N/B-voltage regulator heatsink so both sets of voltage regulators are covered?

I am very confused, shocked and happy atm. Hopefully someone can tell me what is going on.

I am running 0906 BIOS, have been having the vdrop issue like everyone else.

Whilst testing a 24/7 OC at 4.2Ghz, I noticed that vdrop was only 0.03V or so, now I set the voltage to 1.7V and am getting ~1.66V, still on 0906 AND THE VDROP IS GONE????

The vdrop now seems to be coming and going, I ran some quick tests with the higher voltage but it doesnt help my CPU much, maybe even makes it a little worse in SPI 1M, helps a little in 3DMark06.

With the times it has or hasn't worked, There has been one thing in common, if I set the voltage <1.6V, but <1.7V(1.6 or 1.7 exact had vdrop), it didn't have the vdrop.

What happens to everyone else when you set 1.6xxV?

Yeah. Only one of them fits though (U or S). Check thermalright's site as they have info for which fits on that spot, on your motherboard.

I would too.. Unfortunately I'll be realistic and 1.7v max anyways isn't enough for me sometimes...

I don't know, I figure I'll get an X38 or something for OCing if I really wanted to get nuts.

No need for an X38. The P5K-E is a champion

Lol yea it is... I was really glad I kept it and stuck with a single 8800 GTS... 17.2k 3DMark06 is nothing to laugh at!

If you switch to a Wolfie then don't run 3dmark06 anymore. You will feel depressed after the test finishes

Lol.. trust me I won't be. The FPS difference I'd get from a 3.6 GHz Q6600 to a Wolfie aren't even worth the money.

This rig should hold out til 8 Core Nehalem or RV770/the REAL 9 Series (I still think the 9800 GX2 is a joke).

No need to cool those, put some load on your cpu and feel the mosfets with your finger.
Mine stayed below 40ēC estimated with 1.4Vcore.
