okay since this is not just an overclocking thread but also a discussion thread among other things... what do you think are the prospects of using a geforce card in an x38 board... SLI is a remote possibility, i've heard that you need to modify the bios to do it, or maybe even just the drivers ... or can something other than a graphics card use the x16 lane, such as a high powered PPU coming out in the near future?

Don't ever count on SLI, ever. The drivers for older cards can be modded but NVIDIA encrypted the new ones so you cannot modify them. As to a hardware mod, not oging to happen either.

any single graphics card will use the x16 lane... what do you think of the possibility of using like, having a geforce card as my main graphics card, but sticking a radeon into the second x16 slot, and downloading the drivers to turn it into a PPU ... there has been talk about using a graphics card to do physics, i wonder if its going to be a worthwile use of the second x16 slot...

I am sure they will run great in the x38, I have heard the OCZ & G.SKILL play fine together in the same board

Praz is running over 1100mhz with the G.SKILL kit on warranted voltage so if you need a start point I am sure he would be the best person to ask.

My OCZ ReaperX runs better then the G.Skill
With OCZ on Performance Level 6,the G.Skill is hard to run with Performance Level 7.

You guy's talking about Gskill and OCZ ram's how about Crucial Balllistix Tracer I was going to buy those bc I think they work very well with our board's like I have seen, if anybody could tell me what's really better I would appreciate it

just checked the UPS tracking thingy & they have just updated & its now in Barking UK. that was the first update since leaving the deport in Herenboegen on saturday morning 2:00am.
so it should be in a van & on it way tomoz

ordering with HPM is'nt a good idea from the UK if u dont have a paypal account & u need what ever it is ure buying quickly.
after all i did a direct transfur @ my bank last monday & the money was taken out the nextday with & agent's charge of 10 euros from the german bank. then nothing goes through with HPM till i get the UPS email on friday.

on top of the 10 euro agents charge i had already payed a charge at my bank to get the money wired quickly lol rather than 4-5days with out a charge

Dunno, Intel spec ask for this vdroop on thier chip, it is probably a safety measure, don't know the tech side of it, better safe then sorry, keep it enabled.


well, more fun, Vista64, Aero enabled 3870's 860/1200, no tweaks, 68 background process. LOL!

How did you get that 860/1200 with your HD 3870? When I try to modify the clocks in ATITOOL they are reseted right back to defaults (stuck).

Did you BIOS mod?

u need to use CCC for mhz and set fan speed in ATT

doing htat mine runs at 877/1377

Well got the board a few days ago after owning the P35-T2R a few monts.

The board take's a bit longer to boot and doesn't handle the 480 FSb the P35 could.

But !

RAM OC is completely sick

I can run my 4x 1GB Ballistix PC8500 at DDR1273 on performance level 6 @ 2.36V !



I tested all the beta biosses wich are out but the only one and by far the most stable one is the only official one and 1st release !

At a FSB of 424 there's no reason why the board shouldn't be able to run at a PL of 6. Adjust Clock Delays and the ram should be able to hit a higher speed.

I'm running it on the following settings :

Ch 1&2 = 0-3-8-4
Ch 3&4 = 0-3-8-4

Why has DFI changed the name's of these options btw.
In the new beta's they use the term "XXXps" instead of the normal digits.

The name change more accurately depicts the settings. Since we are changing the signaling time it's best that the actual time delay is displayed.

Reboot issue? When I restart my comp then it turns first OFF then back on and then OFF again, and after it turns back on and starts up or sometimes it hangs with C1 error on the display. Do you guy's experience the same issue ?
