I know the resolutions arn't going to be massive but i was wondering if anyone had tried a LCD Tv and what the results were like, the idea sprang into my head because i'm moving house soon and thought a new room could do with a new monitor and while im at it why not have TV as well. Probably be a 720p model as the 1080's are a little pricey for me just now. Any recommendations on that front ??

Is there a reason why you want a larger screen with a lower resolution? That equates to a further viewing distance.

height adjustability (130mm up or down), swivel (45° left and right) and tilt (4° forward and 21° backward).

i presume your talking to me if not im sorry, the reason being that i can sit in a nice place and not have to bother with a separate TV. I can just bang between the two and im not that bothered about massive resolution i would just prefer something i can see, especially while watching downloaded High Def content.

...well it's great for video (larger full hd tv ie)
i've thought about it but i have the hd video panel in another room from the computer at my house....whatever suits your particular desires isnt it...
    so..it's like a htpc/games console/pc...

viewing distance i suppose is proportional to screen size just need to adjust text size to suit.

Contrast Ratio: Light intensity between black and white. Higher contrast ratios = sharper image
Contrast has very little to do with sharpness. Rather, contrast ratio affects the vivacity of the image. More specifically, it describes the difference in luminosity between white and black. If this is low, then the image will look washed out.

A contrast ratio is measured by measuring the luminence (light intensity) in foot-lamberts (fL) of white and of black. The lumenince of white divided by the lumenince of black equals the contrast ratio. For instance, a white level of 30 fL and a black level of 0.05 fL yields an on/off contrast ratio of 600:1, which is relatively poor. For comparison, CRT monitors technically have an on/off contrast ratio of infinity since the black level is absolutely 0 fL.

I'm looking for a good LCD from 20' to 22'. Unfortunately, here in Argentina the best brand we can get is Dell (e.g.: forget about NEC... maybe some Acers or Viewsonics), so I would like to know what model is the best to buy. I’ve read some reviews, but I want to listen to the opinions of enthusiasts (gaming, graphic design, etc).

    Tnx!

aznsniper911 for gaming the two best with low input lag are samsung 245bw and the Benq G2400.
I would buy the Benq myself if I could find it locally so I could see it.
So far all I have seen are review pics.

    ============================================
I have 3 lcd's at home and 7 dells at work and all but two have one thing in common. Desktop whites are more grey.
    The 2 that are W H I T E are a hyundai and a dell 207wfp

I will never buy another monitor that looks like this.

What's the advantage of having an HDMI port on an LCD monitor? Isn't the image quality identical to DVI?

Looks fairly recent to me, but all that tells you are rated specs from the manufacturer. It tells you nothing about the monitor in real use.

Is PSU same as Adapter??? bought one at 12vadapters.com

Thanks for the explanation. I'm still confused though: is a PSU the same as a Power Adapter? I bought an adapter already at 12vadapters.com. Can someone explain the difference between a PSU and a Power Adapter? I lost my adapter, and am confused whether a PSU is the same thing? Both terms came up when I searched power adapters, so I just bought one.

Welcome to The LCD Buyer’s Guide. The purpose of this thread is to aid those who are planning on purchasing an LCD monitor in the near future to make the smartest purchasing decision, as well as to inform readers about some of the main characteristics of this technology. This thread will attempt to accommodate the needs of serious gamers, video enthusiasts, digital artists, regular application users, as well as users just looking for simple display to just surf the net or benchmark . Additionally, if you find any mistakes in this thread or a collection of grammatical errors, PM me and I’ll see of I can make these changes whenever I have time. I would greatly appreciate it.

I am looking for a new lcd to upgrade from my current 17 inch samsung. I bought this one about 3 years ago without much research, and well it hasnt been bad, i'm sure i could have done better. I do a lot of gaming (World of Warcraft, Audiosurf, TF2, CSS), and of course browsing the web watching online content or downloading WoW videos (WoW is my current game i play the most). I don't do a lot of viewing of DVDs.

My budget is around 200-300 dollars, so i can't be spending that much unfortunately. I have been looking at Samsung recently (906bw and 216BW, i believe), as i had a good experience with my current monitor.

My system is an Athlon 64 x2 4200 oced to 2.4 (just a little bit), x1950 xt video card, 2 gigs of OCZ ram. Any other specs you might need, please just ask. I'm on forums a lot during slow days at work. :p

I was just looking for some recommendations of samsung, or any other brands in the 19-21 inch area under 300 dollars. Obviously you can't always rely on the specs the company puts out. Any real world anecdotes would be helpful.

    Thank you for your time
