That would mean a channel is made up of different colored slots, so Channel 1 would be DIMM1 / DIMM2 and Channel 2 would be DIMM3 / DIMM4 (as listed in the BIOS) ?

    Yayy!

    All 121 pages read.

    Thank F#@K for that!

Reading all 3000+ posts made my eyes bleed!

Just to say I've got my sig G0 running rock solid @ 3.6 with very respectable voltages all around.

A big thank you from me to the many contributers of this thread who have helped this floundering and hopeless Asus refugee swim back to the rock solid shores of stability!!

    Well done all!!!

guys , i failed to read the entire thread, but i have a question...

according to http://www.anandtech.com/printarticle.aspx?i=3129 , you can adjust the GTL ref values, and that the values have to go up when you increase your voltages... does anyone know what happens if you set those values too high?

    Hi guys,

I'm new at Intel's club but not at DFI's (good old nf4..)
Set up new rig as in my sig n trying to squeeze a bit fm it.
Right now i'm stuck at relatively low fsb n hope you gonna help me:
    Code:
    -> Voltage Settings
    CPU VID Control: 1.40000V
    CPU VID Special Add: Auto
    DRAM Voltage Control: 2.150V
    SB 1.05V Voltage: 1.070V
    SB Core/CPU PLL Voltage: 1.55V
    NB Core Voltage: 1.50V
    CPU VTT Voltage: 1.50V
    Vcore Droop Control: Disabled
    Clockgen Voltage Control: 3.45v
    GTL+ Buffers Strength: Strong
    Host Slew Rate: Weak
    GTL REF Voltage Control: Enable
CPU GTL 1/3 REF Volt: 102
CPU GTL 0/2 REF Volt: 102
North Bridge GTL REF Volt: 102

    Exist Setup Shutdown: Mode 2
    CLOCK VC0 divider: AUTO
    CPU Clock Ratio: x8
    - Target CPU Clock: 3360 MHz
    CPU Clock: 420 MHz
    Boot Up Clock: Auto
    DRAM Speed: 333/667
    - Target DRAM Speed: DDR2 841
    PCIE Clock: 100 MHz
    PCIE Slot Config: 1x 1x
CPU load temp is 50C (CoreTemp)
DRAM Timings all on AUTO yet, resulting in 5-5-5-15

Any help to push it more? I would like to hit fsb 450MHz.
    Thanks

Bump up your gtl settings from 102 to about 105 and increace your cpu vid to 1.425 and give it a try.....

If that does not work try 1.425 cpu vid and disable the gtl ref voltage control as this works best with quads... everything else looks fine.

nzbleach nice clocks but they mean nothing (apart from benchmarks) without actual voltages, temps and cooling you used (still aircooling like previous page? - you added lots of vcore)?

please post at least with smartguardian running.

it's just my opinion as you are kind of reviewing a new product we all are looking to buy

sorry to ask if it's already posted, is it a retail or ES cpu you have?
(a graph with vcore vs clock would be excellent!)

Hi all I have new parts inbound (see sig under new rig) and I was wondering if there is any special start up ritual like there was for my expert? I believe when I got the expert you had to use one stick of memory in a certain slot power up enter bios and load optimized defaults save exit and shut down. Then you where able to install the second stick and proceed to oc like a mad man. I read this entire thread but it took like three days and many beers to get thru it all and I don't remember if there was any special start up ritual.

so your cpu can do 24/7 at 4500 with watercooling easy, right?

But 1.6 vcore for 45nm isn't too much?

I ordered the LT version of this board recently. Should be at my door tomorrow or Wednesday. Anybody using the non-transpiper version? I did some research and according to the specs the only difference between the LT and the UT is the heatpipe assembly.

im using the LT. Not a shred of difference. The bios splash screen boots up with LT and UT in the logo.

    No problem.
For ~3.5GHz vcore 1.35000V, all on def.
    For 3.6GHz vcore 1.37500V, nbcore 1.35V, sbcore 1.75V, cpu vtt 1.25V
    For 3.8GHz vcore 1.425V, nbcore 1.4V, sbcore 1.75V, cpu vtt 1.25V
    For 4.0GHz vcore 1.49V, nbcore 1.45V, sbcore 1.8V, cpu vtt 1.3V
Any higher than this requiers even more voltage on all settings, so cause i dont need much vcore for 3.6GHz i keep it on that freq. and my ram also gets a nice round number.

Hi guys, great thread! I just ordered this board, should be here tomorrow and I'm building it right away. This is my first DFI since P965S which I ended up not using.

There's so much info out there on this bios and board that I had to get it. I'm psyched to get in and tweak for a long time.

Question - how is the bios recovery on this sucker? If I fry the bios chip can I get a new one withour RMA the whole board? Does it pop out or soldered in?

Its a socketed chip that can be replaced. Someone on here was selling spare chips, cant remember who though.

The BIOS chip is removable. The chance of needing another chip is no more or less then any other board. With the number of boards I have here it's not uncommon for me to flash 10 or more times in one day. I haven't needed to use my programmers to recover from a bad flash for months. Mostly comes down to using quality components with a stable flashing environment.

I've only ever had one bad flash and since then I use a bios savoir.

Or you might still be able to get a spare chip from Brother Esau.
